A massive thank you to Bannatynes Bristol who donated over 400 Easter Eggs to Family Food Action this week. We took them to our partner organisations who support families and children through Food Clubs, Adventure Play sessions and at schools, who were bowled over. Levels of food insecurity and emergency food receipt appeared to have been falling, or stabilising, in Bristol between 2018 and 2021, but the data from the 2022 to 2024 QoL surveys has shown significant increases in households who have experienced moderate to severe food insecurity and severe food insecurity . Food bank usage has also increased compared with the previous year and is now the highest recorded.
Data from the JSNA Health and Wellbeing Profile 2024/25

Thanks to Bristol Brunel Lions Club for the wonderful delivery on Tuesday. It meant that we had lots of food for our partners to distribute to the food club members; stocks at the food clubs were low after the holiday break but are looking better now. ( It was good to meet the lion cub too 😁🦁)

More fresh fruit for our partners: "This is a real treat"
We were nominated by Matt ( Sainsbury's Local, Bishopston) for a Sainsbury's 'Good food for all of us' community grant (via Neighbourly). We have spent £1000 over the last 6 months to 'top up' our donations to all partners. This has been through weekly donations of fresh fruit and milk. Responses from all partners have been overwhelmingly positive. They have been really delighted to be able to give some 'extra's' which make a difference to families.

Parent quote: 'I got some plums today so I can make a crumble for the family which is a real treat.'

Single parent of 3 young children: 'I got some bananas. I'm really pleased because I will be able to give them a banana each for breakfast instead of sharing one between the three of them which is what we usually have to do'.

Child: 'Bilberries [blueberries] are my favourite'.
Parent: 'They are her favourite but I can't usually afford to buy them. This is a real treat'
