Do you know where your FFA donations go? We work with partners in areas of deprivation around our area in North Bristol where the food and toiletries that you kindly donate will make a difference to local families and children.

Thank you to all the gardeners and allotment owners who give FFA the wonderful vegetables they have grown to support the families and children and help them get access to healthy fresh fruit and vegetables. Bring your donations to the Ardagh any Tuesday morning between 10.30 and 12, and they will be taken straight to our partners in Easton, Eastville, Lockleaze, St Werburghs, Southmead for their food clubs or for them to use to provide healthy meals for children at activities.

A massive thank you to Amazon.co.uk for donations to FFA since January 2026. We collect a selection of food and toiletry items and some other items of value to families and children from the distribution warehouse and distribute them to 7 of our regular N Bristol partners who run food clubs and/or activity sessions. Much appreciated

Many congratulations to Nirmal Singh, Community Cook at Eastside Community Trust in Bristol, who received a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to the community in Bristol, in the King's birthday honours list.
Nirmal cooks for Felix Road playground users using food donated through Family Food Action and from other suppliers. She provides lunches and afterschool meals both during term time and holidays. Many of you will remember trying her wonderful cooking at our 2022 Open Day

It is volunteers week this week, when we think about the amazing job that all the volunteers do to support our communities. Thank you to all the FFA volunteers who donate, collect, sort and deliver food and toiletries to communities that need a bit of extra help with supporting their families. Thank you all. A massive thank you to Bannatynes Bristol who donated over 400 Easter Eggs to Family Food Action this week. We took them to our partner organisations who support families and children through Food Clubs, Adventure Play sessions and at schools, who were bowled over. Levels of food insecurity and emergency food receipt appeared to have been falling, or stabilising, in Bristol between 2018 and 2021, but the data from the 2022 to 2024 QoL surveys has shown significant increases in households who have experienced moderate to severe food insecurity and severe food insecurity . Food bank usage has also increased compared with the previous year and is now the highest recorded.

Many thanks to where the staff made a collection of food and toiletries for the FFA before Christmas. A trolley load of donations was brought up to the Ardagh on Tuesday. Many thanks to Birketts LLP for their support
