So sad to hear of the passing of one of our own. Thank you for everything you have done, Bish. May you rest in peace and rise in glory.
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Chaplain Bernard 'Dave' Sims (SCC) RNR, our longest serving Padre, on Thursday 6th March.
Dave was a member of the Corps for over 3 decades, firstly at Sea Cadets Newbury and then with us at Walsall for the last 28 years.
He was an amazing man with a bright and beautiful character. He lived a really interesting life both before and after he took up his calling as a Reverend, and he used these life experiences to draw on and connect with the cadets. Always ready to help with anything, he regularly went above and beyond what was expected in every aspect of the unit, instructing the cadets in their nautical training, taking part in formal ceremonial occasions, leading the remembrance service for the Carless memorial outside the town Library, serving on the management committee of the charity and of course in his pastoral roll to both cadets and adults alike. Always a fantastic listener and willing to give advice, nothing was to much trouble and he was never 'off duty'. An avid supporter of the Sea Cadet Corps, encouraging his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren to be a part of it as well. His passion for his faith was never just a job to him it was his life.
The SCC family of TS Vanguard, both past and present send love and condolences to Dave's family at this emotional time.
Fly high Sir, and Rest in Peace with Fair Winds and Following Seas ###
