Toby Seed (11.02.88 - 04.10.18)

Today marks the 8th anniversary of the passing of Toby Seed, who died by su***de. He was an incredible musician, friend and human being, and his legacy carries on.

Seed Sessions exists in order to help male identifying musicians going through, or at risk of going through, something similar to Toby. The name was chosen in memory of him but also as a reminder of the potential within everyone, and the growth and development that can occur given the right nurturing conditions. We hope Seed Sessions provides those conditions.

We also raise awareness and normalise talking about mental health, so that people don’t feel shame or stigma in relation to it.

✨Counsellor Spotlight✨

Cory has been with us from the very beginning and we are extremely lucky to have him as part of our team. Here are a few words from Cory about his style and approach to counselling.

“I’m a therapist and facilitator based in Bristol, and I’ve been doing this work for over a decade. I believe that people make sense. The patterns you’re stuck in, the ones you might be embarrassed about - all started as ways of getting through something. The trouble is, we rarely see these patterns clearly from the inside, and they tend to outlive their usefulness.

Therapy is where you get to be radically honest about yourself, with self-compassion. Self-compassion, paired with honesty, helps us understand our patterns and choose a different direction. In our sessions, I also pay attention to what your body’s doing, because it’s usually saying something - whether it’s tension, restlessness or the shutting down that arrives long before you have words for it.

I’m particularly interested in identity: how the world around us shapes the way we see ourselves. This can come from our own experiences, or be passed down through our families. I also work with anxiety, depression, sexuality, relationships and confidence.
