Last night we celebrated the work of Bristol Churches Shelter with volunteers, partners and - most importantly - some of the 29 guests who stayed at the shelter last winter. It was a lovely evening and a great opportunity to say thank you to the many people who contributed to ensure that through the coldest winter months, people had somewhere to stay. 25 of our guests moved into further, more permanent accommodation.

Some quotes from people who stayed at the shelter:
"I was treated like a human"
"The one to one support wasn't 'once a week' - it was every day.
"Whichever food I loved the most - I received a lot of it!"

InHope's work to offer shelter to people when they need it most goes on - and if you want to find out more then have a look here - https://www.inhope.uk/our-services/shelter/

Here are some of the Shelter Team, who mostly run Spring of Hope, our emergency night shelter for women in Bristol.
They want to join in to say a massive thank you to volunteers, especially those who work with women at Spring of Hope and those who keep the shelter clean and welcoming!

Today is my last day running inHope social media!

It's been a privilege to be able to keep you up to date and show off all the great stuff that's happening here to support people out of homelessness, hunger, and addiction. As a famous bunny says, "That's all folks!"

We're looking for a Digital Fundraising Officer, so if you're social media savvy please get in touch! https://www.inhope.uk/get-involved/work-with-us/

And so, I virtually pass the baton onto the next person!

The spring Life Course is wrapping up this week and the group prepared and shared an amazing Jamaican feast together yesterday!
Carmen's plan is to keep in touch with participants and hopefully provide some after course support.
They've been a great group and have really supported each other through. There is hope after addiction!

Find out more about the Life Course here: https://www.inhope.uk/our-services/life-recovery/the-life-course/.

Severe heat can kill and people on the streets are very vulnerable. During the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) the Wild Goose drop-in will be open to for longer (until 4pm) so that people can have shade and drinks during the hottest part of the day.

This is a really helpful 10 minute video to address some of the publics' questions about homelessness. Have a watch and let us know what you think.

Why does homelessness happen?
Is homelessness a choice?
How can I help people experiencing homelessness?

Homelessness is one of the most visible yet widely misunderstood issues today. From rough sleeping to the hidden reality of sofa surfing and temporary accommodation, public awareness often only scratches the surface.

As more people turn to search engines and online platforms to better understand homelessness in the UK, our friends at Betel UK - Birmingham and YMCA London City and North are answering the public’s questions about homelessness in Benefact Trust’s new series ‘Asking the Big Questions’.
