Bristol Ice Skating Club was formed in August 1992 and was based at the John Nike Leisure Sport Ice rink in Frogmore Street, Bristol which sadly closed in October 2012. The Club has continued operating with members meeting at the Link Centre, Swindon and in the winter at temporary outdoor rinks in Bristol and Bath. Bristo
l Ice Skating Club is affiliated to British Ice Skating https://www.iceskating.org.uk, the governing body for ice skating sport in the disciplines of Free Skating, Ice Dancing, Pair Skating, Speed Skating and Synchronised Skating and has provided opportunities for its members to participate in all these disciplines at all skill levels and all ages from 3 to 80 years and the icing on the cake to take part in ice shows often to support charities like the Children’s Society. Members of Bristol Ice Skating Club and its predecessor Bristol Ice Dance and Figure Skating club have represented the clubs nationally and in international competitions, European and World Championships and Winter Olympic Games, Robin Cousins being the most well known Bristolian and Men’s Olympic Champion in 1980 https://olympics.com/en/news/robin-cousins-figure-skating. Bristol Ice Skating Club welcome Planet Ice https://planet-ice.co.uk to Bristol. The club looks forward to opportunities to work with the management at the new ice rink at Cribbs Causeway, due to open in September this year, in the development of ice skating sport disciplines for all ages and levels of skill. If you are interested in ice skating we would like to hear from you even if you have never skated before. The new Planet Ice rink will have coaches, licensed to coach through British Ice Skating, who will teach you how to ice skate and then help you develop your skills in the ice skating disciplines that interest you.
