Dear friends,
We have the pleasure of inviting you to our exhibition in celebration of Black History Month.

"Black philosophers: Planting the Seeds of Power and Pride"
(01-31 October 2025; Community Space, Jubilee Library)
Curator: Umit Ozturk (Coordinator, )
In collaboration with Brighton and Hove City Libraries and No Hate Speech UK

In line with this year’s theme of UK Black History Month (“Standing Firm in Power and Pride”), this exhibition features the portraits and short biographies of the Black philosophers whose academic work, speeches, publications and pioneering activist roles had a profound worldwide influence on many future artists, professionals and activists from all backgrounds – not limited to Black followers.
The exhibition features 11 female and 7 male philosophers.

The legacy of such Black philosophers had become a fountain of inspiration for many followers in their social and resistance movements for equal rights and opportunities and diversity, and against colonialism, racism, and discrimination.

Throughout October, EuroMernet Film Club will also screen drama and documentary films on Black History, including films about the life and legacy of some of the philosophers who were featured in the exhibition.

Love, peace, and solidarity,

EuroMernet team
