✂️ We recently ran a six week sustainable fashion and mending course with a group of 34 primary school students aged 10-11
✂️ Each student learned how to sew, how to darn, how to patch and how to sew on a button
✂️ We worked on a new technique each week and then stitched them into repair booklets with their initials on the front. The students can take them home and refer to them in future, alongside our Sew Fabulous instruction booklets. (you can download this for free on our website or order a copy to be sent to you for a small charge)
✂️ We discussed fast fashion, environmental issues, employment and workers rights and what we can do as individuals
✂️ This was a pilot project funded by
We were interested in testing our ideas in the wild and working out ways that we could roll it out on a large scale.
Our theory is that if you learn these skills and this knowledge at a young age you may be able to change the way you shop, source, repair and rehome your clothes - for life. A fairly big impact then!

✂️ We were extremely impressed by the hard work that the students put in and the beautiful outcomes. We were also extremely impressed by the class teacher and recommend anyone who works with that many kids on a daily basis should have their wages doubled immediately and be given a very generous free summer holiday immediately.
