🌟 A fantastic achievement from the Brilliant Brighton Ambassadors! 🌟

Since launching with the new team in July 2026, the Brilliant Brighton Ambassador team has been making a real difference across the city centre: supporting businesses, helping keep the area safe and tackling issues affecting the local business community.

One result really stands out…

🛍️ Over £39,000 worth of stolen goods recovered and returned to businesses within the BID area! 👏

That is more than just a number. It represents thousands of pounds of stock that has been identified, recovered and returned to the businesses who work so hard to serve our city.

The Ambassadors are out across the BID area 7 days a week, working alongside businesses and partners to respond to incidents, report concerns, support vulnerable people and help create a safer, more welcoming city centre.

A huge thank you to the Brilliant Brighton Ambassador team for the fantastic work you are doing and to all the businesses who continue to share information and work with the team.

Brighton & Hove is a vibrant city, and every week hundreds of young people travel in by train to enjoy our iconic seafront. But when large gatherings lead to anti-social behavior, both local businesses and young people pay the price.

We heard your concerns and we’ve taken direct action with an innovative solution.

Introducing: On The Tracks.

We want young people to be able to enjoy our city’s spaces safely, while ensuring our local business community, residents, and visitors don't suffer from an increase in ASB. That’s why we’ve launched On the Tracks, a proactive safeguarding initiative led by the Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) and funded by the GTR Improvement Fund.

Recognising that many young people travel into Brighton & Hove unsupported, we’ve partnered with Trust For The Trust for Developing Communities to deploy approachable and friendly youth workers directly onto key train routes, at Brighton Station, and along the beach. By meeting young people where their journeys begin, we step in before issues escalate.

What We’ve Achieved Over the Summer
Over the summer we've delievered 10 sessions and our teams have been hard at work across the rail corridor, seafront, and business community.

1. Our youth workers conducted 478 risk-reduction discussions directly with young people travelling to the city, including personal safety advice, phone safety, and anti-spiking advice, we've shared 300+ food and drink items and ensured young people have access to phone chargers and sun cream

2. We stepped in early to resolve 3 missing/absconding youth cases, tackle county lines risk indicators, provide mental health crisis decompression, and carry out 17 targeted safeguarding actions.

3. We visited over 63 retail and night-time economy venues, delivering youth ASB advice, providing proxy sales guidance, and ensuring the business community feel supported, engaged and empowered.

No single organisation can tackle these challenges alone. This initiative relies on a strong network across our entire city. We work directly with Sussex Police, Brighton and hove Brighton and Hove Police, British Transport Police, the brighton and hove Brighton & Hove City Council seafront team, and the local seafront businesses themselves, who have stepped up to support the project directly by providing water, essential storage space, and practical assistance for our seafront engagement team to keep operations running smoothly.

Success isn't just about enforcement, it’s about early intervention and action, building trust, and keeping our community safe together.

Nick was invited on after he helped identify a prolific burglar in the city. Partnership working at its finest here when he was seen in the city after his spree of offending. Another reason why working as one makes such a big difference.

What started off as a temporary data entry position has turned into 15 fantastic years of service to the Brighton & Hove business community.

Friday saw the official launch of the new “On The Tracks” youth engagement initiative (Funded by GTR), with partners coming together to support young people across Brighton during a particularly busy and very warm day ☀️

With increasingly large groups of young people congregating along the seafront and travelling into the city via the rail network, “On The Tracks” has been developed to provide early support, positive engagement and visible outreach where young people are gathering.

The project focuses on engagement within the railway network and station environments, before extending out into central areas of the city to help ensure that young people who do make their way to the seafront are able to enjoy the space positively and safely.

Our partners Brighton and Hove Police worked tirelessly during this first project launch to engage with young people, tone set and support our seafront business community.

The youth engagement element is being delivered by the fantastic team from The Trust for Developing Communities (TDC), an organisation with a strong track record of working alongside young people and communities across Brighton & Hove. TDC specialise in building trusted relationships, supporting inclusion, and creating opportunities for young people to feel heard, supported and connected within their communities.

It was fantastic to see so many young people engaging with the team during the first session, with plenty of positive conversations throughout the day.

A great start to an important partnership project aimed at keeping young people safe, supported and connected.

👑 From Brighton to the Palace: Celebrating Sarah Morris

We are bursting with pride this week! This past Wednesday, our very own Sarah Morris attended a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace after being nominated by Sussex Police for her incredible decade-long dedication to our city.

Sarah's journey is a true inspiration. Starting with the BCRP in an administrative role well over ten years ago, she has evolved into a leading architect for community safety and a fierce advocate for our local businesses.

She pioneered the development of Operation Apprentice, a project designed to protect our shops and staff while ensuring that the voices of our business members are finally heard and represented where it matters most.

Sarah's most standout achievement has been the Early Intervention Youth Plan. Her passion for stopping the cycle of youth crime and focusing on safeguarding has quite literally changed the trajectory for young people and children in Brighton, moving them away from exploitation and the justice system and toward a brighter future.

Sarah has spent over a decade working tirelessly behind the scenes, and seeing her work recognised at the highest level is a win for all of Brighton.

To our business members: many of you have worked directly with over the years and know firsthand the heart she puts into this city. We couldn't be prouder of this tenacious, hard-working, and passionate person and we invite you to join us in thanking her for her unwavering commitment and raising a virtual glass to this amazing achievement! 🥂✨
