Mayor of Brighton & Hove

·
As CO of Brighton Sea Cadets I attended Remembrance Committee at Brighton Town Hall to review and coordinate plans for the 11 Remembrance services and events taking place across Brighton & Hove during Remembrance Week.

Chaired by the Mayor of Brighton & Hove and supported by council officers, the committee brings together representatives from the armed forces, veterans’ organisations, the Royal British Legion, Sussex Police, faith communities, cadet and scouting groups, volunteers, and other civic partners. Together, they play a vital role in ensuring that Remembrance events are delivered safely, respectfully and inclusively for all.

The programme of services provides opportunities for residents, families, veterans, serving personnel and visitors to come together to honour those who have served and sacrificed in conflicts past and present. From parades and wreath-laying ceremonies to community services held across the city, these events offer moments of reflection, gratitude and remembrance, ensuring that the stories and sacrifices of previous generations are never forgotten.

The committee's work helps to support the many hundreds of residents who attend Remembrance events each year, enabling communities across Brighton & Hove to observe the national period of remembrance.

The full list of services and events taking place across Brighton & Hove during Remembrance Week will be shared shortly.

Patcham Duck Fair Fundraising, What a long wet day, heavy rain, then the wind broke the gazebo we tried to fix it, cable ties, even a tree branch (well done AC Jet for trying !), but all to no avail H&S meant the need to ensure the safety of all ...we had no option but to take it down and throw it away!! Then the wind broke our recruiting flags! , but in true cadet spirit we carried on ! We didn't raise much money either.. but we had a good day together trying our best! Huge thanks to Committee Ian and Richard and to Parents Graham and Simon plus Dylans Mum, PO Jay, and to our loyal cadets Jet, Joseph and Dylan who braved to rain to recruit.
Thankfully a new SCC Gazebo is on order!
