This is Saubhagya. When we began supporting her she was a primary school pupil from a tiny village attending a small local school.

She loved painting and design and she was so clever that, at first, her teachers thought someone else had done her homework for her.

Saubhagya told us she was going to university; she was going to be architect.

We believed her. And now, guess what, she's just landed a job with an architectural firm.

And we're looking for our next architect, our next doctor... if you'd like to help, please get in touch.

Who's your favourite Bank Manager? No idea, right? Who's your favourite teacher? Now we're talking! It's World Teacher's Day on 5th October - a time to celebrate the people who've made a real difference to our education.

A teacher's work stays with us forever, making us into the people we will be for the rest of our lives.

The teachers and children we support in Sri Lanka work in difficult circumstances but they perform the same miracle. Here's to the teachers who make a difference - wherever they are.

Your donations make a world of difference. £5 buys a solar lamp for studying at night. £30 provides a bicycle, saving hours of dangerous walking for the students who live far from their schools. £80 covers a child's school needs for a whole year, prodiving then with the all the equipment they may need.

Sri Lanka has an overall literacy rate of 97.4%, the highest in all of South Asia. At OneSky, we've worked hard to help improve literacy in some of the most remote parts of the country through teaching, providing school supplies and supplying essentials like bikes and lamps. In Sri Lanka, elephants are revered as sacred symbols of wisdom, strength, and prosperity. They are cherished as living blessings in temples, and they famously lead the grand, illuminated Kandy Esala Perahera procession carrying Buddha's sacred tooth relic.

While Sri Lanka honours this bond daily, the world joins in every August 12th for World Elephant Day. Launched in 2012, this day highlights the urgent need to protect Asian elephants, which are now endangered with fewer than 50,000 left in the wild.
