Vivacious Occasions & Gifts for angels are proud to present The Brighton Charity Ball in support of Brain Tumour Research and sponsored by Barrat homes
This special event started in 2014 and to date we have raised over £30,000 for Brain Tumour Research. The evening is being held in loving memory of "Lola Rice". Gifts for Angels are an online shop that sells bright and beautiful grave side pieces
and sympathy gifts. It was established by Michelle De La Motte-Rice after the devastating loss of her daughter Lola who this evening is being held in memory of. Lola was nearly 3 years old when she woke one morning feeling sick. Over the next 3 days several doctors diagnosed Lola with a tummy bug. On the 4th day following a small seizure she was rushed to A&E. After many hours she was given a brain scan where they discover Lola had a Brain Tumour. After a major operation in St Thomas' the next day, Lola passed away. Brain tumours are the BIGGEST CANCER KILLER of children and adults under 40 years of age in the UK and yet it receives less than 1% of the national cancer research budget. It is not a particularly well known fact, but 20% of all cancers spread to the brain. Brain Tumour Research was launched in 2009 to raise awareness of and funding for scientific research into brain tumours and improve outcomes for patients. It is the only national charity in the UK that is dedicated to granting 100% of its funds to continuous and sustainable scientific research into brain tumours. A cure for this dreadful disease needs years of dedicated research if we are to achieve the same success in treatments as have been discovered for diseases such as leukaemia, breast and lung cancer. The aim of this charity is to establish a network of flourishing brain tumour research centres throughout the UK, which together will put this county at the forefront of international brain tumour research. We currently have one established in Portsmouth and now have three more in Plymouth, Imperial College London and UCL . We need to raise £1 million per year to fund each centre, so our aim is to raise £7 million per annum. The Brighton Charity Ball is always a fantastic evening one not to be missed, and we would be thrilled if you are able to take part in whatever way you can. It is currently being held at ,The Grand Hotel in Brighton in their Empress Suite. We are always looking for Raffle or Auction Prizes, so if you can help in any way please get in touch-It is always a well publicized event.
