Refugee Week Community Celebration

Refugee Week 2026 runs from 15-19 June and sees the world’s largest arts and culture festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary.

Join Communitas Dance and Circus Street outside The Dance Space on Friday 19 June, from 4-6pm for an afternoon of refreshments, games, crafts and workshops, including:
4.30pm - Afro dance workshop with Lya from Blkdiamondance
5pm - Latin grooves workshop with Anna from Communitas Dance

All FREE. All welcome!

Free company class with Rhiannon Faith Company 🫵

There are a few spots left for next week's free class with on Tuesday 9 June, 9.30am at The Dance Space.

Expect a full movement warm-up exploring contemporary technique, followed by a chance to learn some rep from the company's new show Mary Mary.

Aimed at professionals, this is a vibrant and energetic class, as the company gets ready for a day of rehearsals. Hope to see you there!

Big congratulations to Elle Dillon-Reams for winning Outstanding Dance Production at this year’s Brighton Fringe awards 🎉

Elle’s brave solo performance in MEAT is an electrifying roar of fury, a rallying cry of protest in an age where women’s bodies are commodified objects under patriarchy.

As well as free studio time at The Dance Space, mentoring and advice sessions, and £500 towards production costs, the prize includes a slot in The Nest’s Best of Brighton Fringe weekend in association with Chichester Festival Theatre.

So, although Brighton Fringe is sadly over, you can catch Elle performing MEAT on Thursday, 25 June at The Nest, Chichester.

The Practice of Play with Antonia Grove ⭐️⁠

Starting next week!⁠
Monday 1 June is the first in a series of weekly creative sessions led by contemporary dance and theatre practitioner Antonia (Toni) Grove and on 29 June with dancer, actor, choreographer, and stand-up Janelle Hacault.⁠

Open to artists, makers and performers from across creative disciplines, the class creates a supportive space to experiment, take risks and reconnect with play as a serious artistic practice and invite participants to explore improvisation, imagination and physical play.

What: The Practice of Play
When: Mondays 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 June, 9.15am - 11am
Where: The Dance Space Brighton⁠

Apply now for Creative Tank – Inclusive Dance Intensive

Enrich, evolve and expand your dance practice at Stopgap Dance Company’s () three-day practical workshop, Creative Tank.

Aimed at Disabled and non-disabled professional artists, performers, and choreographers, including graduates and those in training - this intensive invites you to engage in movement exploration that is physically and creatively rich with sessions that integrate Stopgap’s signature approach to inclusive dance.

You can expect:

• Choreographic tasks tailored to diverse movement vocabularies
• Collaborative improvisation and supportive feedback
• An introduction to Stopgap’s Translation Method

Stopgap is committed to ensuring an inclusive and accessible experience for all participants, please get in touch to discuss any access needs that would make attending easier. Bursaries are available.
