We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Richard Alston CBE.

Sir Richard served as a Trustee of Dance Professionals Fund for a decade, becoming Chair in 2022. We are forever grateful for the time and knowledge he gave to both DPF and to those we support.

As an influential figure in the British dance world, Richard dedicated his life to dance and to supporting our broader community. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had him as part of our Dance Professionals Fund family.

We extend our deepest condolences to Richard’s family and friends, and to all those within our community who had the honour of knowing and working with him.

Thank you, Richard, for everything you gave to dance and to Dance Professionals Fund.

This Disability Pride Month, we want to highlight the progress the dance world has made to be more inclusive, as well as the work still being done.

From organisations like Candoco Dance Company leading the way, to smaller day to day change (as mentioned in our latest blog post), there are things everyone can do to make the dance world more inclusive.
