The Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only drop-in day centre in Brighton & Hove for young people aged 16-25 experiencing homelessness. Thank you for your support.

It's our mission to work with young people experiencing homelessness to help them to move from crisis to stability. The Clock Tower Sanctuary is a day centre providing information and guidance for 16-25 year olds experiencing homelessness. We are open 5 days per week providing a friendly, bright, centrally-located, safe space for young people to engage with their peers and other visiting agencies. We provide Crisis Support to help young people with their immediate, essential needs, including food, showers and medical support. Our Move-On Support enables young people to unlock their potential and make positive, lasting change. It includes Life Skills courses, 121 support and interactive activities, such as our weekly Men’s & Women's Group. The average life expectancy for a male rough sleeper is 47 years old - 43 for women. We aim to do everything we can to prevent our young people from becoming part of that statistic. If you would like to volunteer, make a donation or do some fundraising then please check out our website.

We are absolutely delighted to share with you a poem, beautifully written by one of the young people we're currently supporting. It moved us all to tears, and we're endlessly proud to be making a difference in the lives of many young people here in our city thanks to you and your continued support.

It's thanks to supporters like you that our doors remain open for young people facing homelessness here in Brighton & Hove. Thank you for ensuring that 16- to 25-year-olds with no secure place to call home can count on us and our day centre for free meals, food parcels, showers, laundry facilities, groups and activities, one-to-one support, and a warm and welcoming space.

Today is both and . Last year, 68% of the young people we supported experienced issues with their mental health, and 34% of young people said that their priority need for accessing was their mental health. In the same year, 85% of these young people reported improved mental wellbeing from CTS’ support, services, and safe space.

We’re proud to make a difference in the lives of young people like Amelia, and we make the biggest possible difference working in partnership with a number of amazing homelessness charities here in our city. Make Change Count is the city’s combined fundraising campaign, providing much needed funds to local charities who support and prevent homelessness. Click below for more info 💙

Today is the start of , an important time to listen, learn, and explore how race and racism impacts Black people in the UK. It’s also a month to both reflect upon and celebrate the extraordinary contributions and achievements made by people of colour here in our city and our country.

Homelessness continues to disproportionately impact Black and Global Majority young people in the UK, and we continue to recognise and challenge intersectionality within the homelessness crisis. Last year, 38% of the young people we supported were Global Majority (POC), representing a 9%-increase in young people of colour accessing our day centre from the previous year.

There’s always more that we can do, and we continue to learn, grow, and change to provide a centre and a service that works for ALL young people facing homelessness in our city. We’ll be providing trips to events and talks, screening films and documentaries, and welcoming posters and decorations into the day centre to celebrate what Black History Month means to our staff, volunteers, and the young people we support.

Our day centre will always be a safe space for every young person who is homeless in our city, where everyone is welcome, respected, and celebrated, and where injustice and discrimination are always challenged.

Black History is every day and all year round. Black History is British History, and it’s now and in the making, both here and across the globe.

Sometimes, making a big difference is as simple as a donation of pot noodles. Many of the young people we support don’t have the cooking facilities that many of us take for granted every day, and instant noodles are a very popular and frequently requested item in our weekly food parcels.

Interested in making a donation? Send an email to [email protected] today and we’ll happily help. Thank you for helping us to make the biggest possible difference in young people’s lives 💙
