Bodhi Garden A non-denominational Buddhist charity based in Brighton. We offer short meditation retreats led by respected Buddhist teachers from across the traditions.

We were established in 2001 by the English Buddhist Monastery Trust, a UK-registered charity (no. 1088804) dedicated to offering Buddhist teachings and opportunities for meditation practice.

Some pictures from the traditional Tibetan Buddhist ceremony for Chris Dornan, co-founder of the Bodhi Garden, who died last month. On Saturday (8th) family and friends assembled by Wolstonbury Hill on the South Downs (https://wolstonburydreaming.com/location/) for a service conducted by former Tibetan Buddhist nun Beki Chudrun. Traditional 49-day lamp offerings continue. A truly heart-warming day and a graceful exit for dear Chris 🙏

With sad news of the passing of Chris Dornan, co-founder and benefactor of the Bodhi Garden and its charitable trust. Chris died of a heart attack a couple of weeks ago. He was a committed dharma practitioner - quiet, understated, highly intelligent and deeply generous. Though he would never have admitted it, to quantify what he contributed and made possible in the Buddhist world is impossible. He was a lovely man and will be sadly missed.
