Tomorrow, Brighton comes together to celebrate 35 years of Ukraine’s restored independence. 💙💛

The Ukrainian community in Brighton warmly invites Ukrainians, local residents, families and friends to join us for an afternoon celebrating Ukrainian culture, art, music and community.

From all of us at The Old Boat Corner Community Centre, we’d like to wish a huge congratulations to all the young people across our local community who are celebrating their GCSE results today. 📚👏

We know how much hard work, dedication and determination has gone into reaching this point, and we hope you take a moment to be proud of yourselves and everything you’ve achieved. 🌟

It’s amazing to look back at how much progress has been made in our community garden over the past 18 months! 🌳🌿

By turning food waste into compost and making use of waste materials from local industry, we’re creating a thriving food forest — a space for our centre users, the local community and wildlife to enjoy. 🐝🦋🍎

The countdown is on for our FREE Family Fun Day on Sunday 6th September, and we’re excited to share more of the amazing activities and entertainment we have planned for the day! 💚

Thanks to the incredible support of our sponsors, partners and local community, we’ve been able to bring together a fantastic mix of fun, creativity, music and entertainment – with something for all ages to enjoy.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

🤝 Partner Spotlight: DownsLink Group 💚

We're pleased to share details of a fantastic FREE service from one of our partners, YMCA DownsLink Group, who currently have no waiting list for referrals.

Their Family Mediation and Support Service is available to families across Brighton & Hove with young people aged 16–25.

The service offers:
💚 Free, confidential family mediation
💚 Crisis intervention and family support
💚 One-to-one parenting support
💚 Help to improve communication and rebuild relationships
💚 Flexible appointments, either in person across the city or by phone

The service is delivered by trained professional mediators and is designed to support families where relationships have become strained, communication has broken down, or there is a risk of family breakdown.

YMCA DownsLink Group are happy to have an informal conversation before a referral is made to discuss whether the service is the right fit for a family.

💚 Why is our Family Fun Day FREE this year? 💚

We're so excited to share that, for the very first time, our Family Fun Day on Sunday 6th September will be completely FREE for everyone to enjoy.

This simply wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of our event sponsor, Stericycle.

As a company, Stericycle is passionate about making a positive difference in the communities they serve. They believe in doing the right thing, protecting the environment, striving for excellence, and building stronger communities through meaningful partnerships. Thanks to their generosity, we've been able to remove the cost of participation so that every family has the opportunity to come along, have fun, and create special memories together.
