This Sunday, we explored why unity is so much more than just being nice to one another. Jesus' prayer in John 17:20-23 reveals something breathtaking: He prayed for perfect unity among all who would ever believe in Him, so that the world would know God sent Him. Unity is not an optional extra in the Christian life. It is baked into what it means to follow Jesus.
Just as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one, we were created in that image, made for meaningful connection with God and with each other. As Galatians 3:28 reminds us, in Christ the dividing lines of race, gender, and status lose their power. The cross made a way not just for individual forgiveness, but for a whole new community.
