✨ THIS SATURDAY! ✨

Join us for something truly special — Earth and Art Project: From Charcoal to Ink
🗓 Saturday 28th February, 2pm – 3.30pm
📍 House of Culture Brighton, 3 Orange Row, BN1 1UQ
👧🧒 For children aged 7+
💛 Pay as you can / FREE

Ever wondered how people made paint before it came in tubes? This Saturday, your child can find out!
In this hands-on workshop, we'll grind, mix and transform charcoal into ink — making our very own pigment from scratch. Then we'll use it to create beautiful artwork inspired by patterns found in nature.
It's messy, it's magical, and it connects children to art-making in its most raw and elemental form.
No experience needed — just curiosity and a willingness to get creative!

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week 💚 (9–15 February)

This year’s theme is “This is My Place” — and it couldn’t feel more fitting for what we do at House of Culture Brighton C.I.C.
Every session we run is about helping children and young people feel they truly belong.
Through inclusive, accessible art and well-being workshops, we create spaces where children from underrepresented backgrounds — including those with additional needs such as ADHD, autism, and Down syndrome — can express themselves freely, build confidence, and know that they matter.
For many of the children we work with, including home-educated young people and those receiving free school meals, finding “their place” isn’t always easy. Mainstream settings don’t always fit. That’s why we exist — to offer a creative, nurturing environment where every child is welcomed exactly as they are.
Belonging isn’t about fitting in. It’s about feeling safe enough to be yourself.
This Children’s Mental Health Week, we’re celebrating the incredible young people we work with and reaffirming our commitment to making creativity accessible, not privileged.
If you’d like to learn more about our work or support what we do, get in touch — we’d love to hear from you 💛

February is shaping up to be a busy (and very creative) month at House of Culture 💛

We’re really looking forward to our Cookie Decorating Workshop on Sunday, 8th February 🍪
A cosy, hands-on session full of colour, icing, creativity and a little bit of sweetness.

We’re also getting ready for our February half-term art sessions 🎨
Time to slow down, explore materials, follow ideas, and create without pressure.

We’re excited to welcome a special workshop on Saturday, 28th February, led by our friend Giulia de Gaetano, as part of her Earth and Art project: From Charcoal to Ink 🌍🖤
This workshop is pay-as-you-can, and booking is essential.

And we’re proud to share that we’ve been awarded HAF places for the Spring / Easter half term 🌱 (30.03-10.04)
This means we can continue offering accessible, creative and nourishing sessions for children who benefit from them most.

Thank you for being part of this community – your support helps us keep making space for creativity, connection and care.
