What is FODIS? FODIS is the Downs Infant School’s Parent & Teacher Association (PTA). We are parents who want to get involved and contribute to the overall experience of school life. What are FODIS objectives? To complement the education of Downs Infant School children, by paying (through fundraising) for extra equipment, facilities and activities & bring staff, parents and children together through fun, social & fund-raising events. What are the main FODIS events throughout the year? September – Teddy Bears Picnic (Reception) / October – Halloween Film night
December – Christmas Fair, Christmas Cards, Teatowels
Feb – Parents Quiz Night
May - Summer Film Night
July – Summer Fair
What school activities does FODIS fund? Lots of curriculum related activities such as workshops including: Bollywood, Den Building, Drumming, Super Tato, Science & Theatre. We also do other fun stuff like providing: Year 2 leavers’ t-shirts; funding for playground improvements. We also funded the additional books for the school and the library! If you have an idea for something that would benefit the school then why not let us know at [email protected]? We'd love to hear from you. How is FODIS set up? FODIS is a registered PTA charity which is run by a committee made up of staff and parents. An Annual AGM is held at the school in October when the committee is voted in. This core team of around 6 to 8 parents plan and manage all the FODIS activities. How much do we raise & what controls are in place? With the help of parents, carers & staff we are currently raising around £9k a year The committee (including the guiding hand of Dr Mitchell and Mrs Brewer) is responsible for deciding what the money is spent on & our treasurer prepares an annual financial summary which is submitted with our charity annual return. How can you get involved? As a parent or carer of a child at Downs Infant School you are already a FODIS member! There are lots of ways to get involved – from joining the committee and having your say, to helping out at any of our events or just sharing your bright ideas. How does FODIS communicate? We send information regarding our events via your Childs book bag, on our FODIS noticeboard in each classroom, texts from the school and posters up around the school. How can you get in touch? Email [email protected] or come to our AGM in the Autumn term.
