Scene Magazine is throwing a party β€” and you're invited.

Join us at Shelter Hall on 01 June from 5pm to celebrate Pride Month and the launch of our biggest issue yet.

At 52 pages, the Scene Summer 2026 issue asks one question:
What is the future of Pride?

We've gone to the people who've shaped it, survived it, and are still fighting for it, and we think you'll want to read every word.

Drinks. Short speeches at 5.45pm. Good company.

Come celebrate with us…

Monday 01 June, from 5pm
Shelter Hall, Kings Road Arches, Brighton BN1 1NB (map)

Today is IDAHOBIT – the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.
Marked in over 130 countries, it's a day to stand together, speak out, and remember why this work matters.

This year's global theme is β€˜At the heart of democracy.’
LGBTQ+ rights are not a niche concern, they are a measure of how well any democracy protects its most vulnerable people. Where those rights are under threat, democracy itself is weaker for it.

For millions of LGBTQ+ people around the world, discrimination isn't history, it's everyday life.
Same-sex relationships remain criminalised in over 60 countries. Trans people face violence, exclusion, and erasure at every turn.
Solidarity isn't symbolic. It's necessary.

Here in Brighton & Hove, we are fortunate to have a community built on decades of courage and care.
But we don't celebrate that in isolation. We stand with LGBTQ+ people everywhere who are still fighting for the right to simply exist.

Pride Community Foundation funds the grassroots work that keeps our community strong and connected to the wider world.
Today, and every day, we stand with you.

Come and see performances and hear speakers including our CEO Leslie Clarke
Sunday 17 May, 1.30pm
outside Brighton Unitarian Church, New Road, Brighton BN1 1UF
and after at The Ledward Centre from 2.30pm to 5pm

Celebrating Trans+ History Week.

Not a recent invention. Not a trend.

Trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people have existed across every culture and every century. Trans+ History Week, 4th-10th May 2026, exists to make sure that history is known, celebrated and passed on – not erased.

History worth knowing.

Trans+ History Week includes the 6th May anniversary of the 1933 N**i raid on the world's first trans clinic in Berlin. That clinic was a place of care, research and community. Its destruction was deliberate. Remembering it matters.

This week, learn something. Share something. Show up.

Super excited about this new partnership! πŸ’›

Brighton Bear Weekend is proud to announce Pride Community Foundation as our official grant-giving partner. 🐻🌈

This marks an exciting new chapter in how money raised through B*W events will support LGBTQ+ organisations and community projects across Brighton & Hove and beyond.

Funds raised at Brighton Bear Weekend events will be transferred to Pride Community Foundation and ring-fenced within the Pride Community Fund, where they will be awarded as grants to LGBTQ+ causes doing vital work in our communities.

As part of this partnership, Brighton Bear Weekend will also have a member of the B*W committee on the Grants and Advisory Board, helping to shape priorities and support decisions around how funds are awarded.

For us, this next chapter matters. B*W will always be about joy, connection and a good time, but we also believe it has an important role to play in the wider LGBTQ+ community: bringing people together, creating welcoming spaces, and helping make sure the generosity of our attendees, volunteers, sponsors and partners has a lasting positive impact.

We’re excited to be working with Pride Community Foundation and look forward to seeing funds raised by our community go back into supporting our community.

Le***an, bi, q***r and WLW communities have always shown up – for each other, for the wider LGBTQIA+ family, for Pride.

This week, we're marking Le***an Visibility Week 2026 and its theme of health and wellbeing. Because visibility isn't just about being seen – it's about having the space to thrive.

We stand with every le***an, bi, trans and q***r woman in our community.

Want to get involved this week?

Take part in events, share your story, or simply reach out to someone in your community who could use a connection.

Your voice belongs in politics.

Last month we took over Brighton Town Hall's beautiful historic council chamber for an evening of Queering Politics, an informal panel discussion with four LGBTQIA+ panelists who gave us the honest, unfiltered truth about local government and what it really takes to get involved.

Mayor Amanda Grimshaw BEM, Councillor Raphael Hill, Councillor David McGregor, and PCF CEO Leslie Clarke talked about everything from identity and imposter syndrome to licensing policy, trans rights, council pay, and why 2027 could be a pivotal year for LGBTQIA+ representation in Brighton.

We've published the full write-up and a four-minute highlights video on our website. Whether you've ever thought about standing for office, or you're just curious about how local democracy actually works, this one's for you. πŸ’›

31 March is Trans Day of Visibility.
It's a day to celebrate transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse people, their lives, their stories and their contributions to our communities.

Visibility saves lives.

When trans people see themselves reflected – in media, in art, in public life – it tells them they belong. Today we celebrate that and we stand alongside the trans community.

Take a moment today to listen to trans voices, share trans stories and show up for the people in your life.

Visibility is an act of solidarity.

Today we celebrate the women in our community – trans women, non-binary women, q***r women, bisexual women, le***ans – the full, brilliant spectrum of womanhood. You are seen, you are celebrated, you belong here.

To every woman who has walked through our doors, shared your story, or shown up for others: thank you. Today is yours.
