ESRAS was founded in 1982 under the original name of East Sussex Herpetology Society. Around about 1990 it was decided to rename the Society and the East Sussex Reptile and Amphibian Society was born, ESRAS for short. ESRAS has a broad membership with specialists in snakes, lizards, tortoises, and invertebrates. All of our members are keen reptile enthusiasts, many keep and maintain different species of reptiles, amphibians and other exotic animals, and we love to come together to share in our passion for the scaley and slithery of the animal world, and to make friendships, connections and also have some fun!! If you are thinking about wanting something different for an event consider hiring us!! We have worked with many great organisations and schools over the years including BBC Deadly 60, STEMNET, Brighton Science Festival, Drusillas, The Big Bang Fair to name a few plus many schools and charities in and around Sussex. For any booking that attend we will ensure we bring everything to make the day run smooth and ensure the health of the animals and the attendees, including hand gel and cleaning products. We are all experienced handlers and are experts at helping people overcome phobias and fears in a safe and fun environment. We have an impeccable safety record and are always equipped with a first aid kit. We also have liability insurance of £10,000,000 Parties & Events We will arrive a minimum of 60 minutes beforehand [Earlier for larger Events]. To setup and make sure that everything is right and proper for the animals and your attendees. Once we are underway we will make sure that everyone has a wonderful time and gets to hold and experience as many different types of exotic as they want to hold [we do not force anyone to hold anything they do not want to]. They can also take as many photos as they wish and there is no time restriction on how long they can spend with us while we are there. We also have downloadable posters and invites that you can use to promote the event. School Educational Talks Our school educational talks are very flexible on what animals we can bring and we are happy to focus on whatever the children are currently learning. We can do focus sessions to cover everything from Mini Beasts, Snakes, Lizards, Arachnids, Camouflage, Survival and Evolution, Food chains, Feeding, Evolutionary Adaptations, Reproduction, Senses, Animal Habitats and Countries (as we have animals from deserts, rain-forests, tropical islands and savannah.) Or any combination of these. The children will have the chance to interact with and learn about these amazing animals in front of their friends and teachers in a safe and controlled environment while still having lots of fun and it provides a great opportunity for personal growth, development and confidence building while learning about nature and the world of exotics around them and the science that goes along with that. Pricing Structure Our prices are extremely competitive and we have two different ways of funding our presence at your event. For school fund raising events we offer our services free of charge. Then we charge to enter our area with a 1 price for all day access, then at the end of the day we will split the profits with you. For parties we start at £70 for the 1st hour and then £35 for each additional hour. For Events including Fayre's, Markets, Fetes, Festivals etc. We can either charge you at the hourly rate (£70 for 1st hour and £35 for each additional hour) or we can turn up free of charge and charge entrance on the door and split the profits with you at the end of the day to put towards your takings for the day. For educational talks we offer a special rate as we are huge supporters of educating children and adults about these amazing animals.
