What happens at an initial consultation for therapy?
Sometimes we put off starting because we don’t know what to expect, but an initial consultation is just a 50-minute appointment so you can share a bit about yourself and why you’re thinking about coming to therapy.
An experienced therapist will guide you through some questions about things like:
• your current situation
• your history and upbringing
• your relationships
• if you have any specific aims for therapy
Hopefully allowing you to feel a little clearer about what you’re looking for, or to have said out loud some things you may not have voiced before. And for us, it helps us to make the best therapist match possible for you.
