Help build a human size beaver lodge with Furnace Brook CIC and People's Park for Nature.

You’ll be using real natural materials to recreate what beavers make in the wild. Expect mud, sticks, creativity and a bit of chaos in the best way.

Beavers are ecosystem heroes. Their lodges and dams create wetlands, boost wildlife and even help reduce flooding. Basically, we think they deserve a celebration.

10am start, drop in anytime
All ages welcome
Tools, gloves, tea and biscuits provided
Just bring lunch, water and outdoor gear

Come get muddy and make something brilliant!

Come and help us build a human size beaver lodge!

If you’re looking for something lovely to do, this is one to bookmark 🎻✨

Our friends at Chailey Heritage Foundation are hosting The Bernardi Music Group’s Stradophonics for an evening of Swing with Strings and it sounds brilliant.

Think jazz, swing, and classic songs from artists like Cole Porter and Charlie Parker, all reimagined with live strings.

Basically: great music, good vibes, and a really special night out.

For Refugee Week this June, The Launchpad Collective is taking over the Cooking the Books format at Patio in Brighton for a special evening exploring food, memory, displacement and Kurdish culture with Pary Baban, author of Nandên: Recipes from My Kurdish Kitchen.

Born in Qaladze in Southern Kurdistan, a place known for its resistance and community, Pary fled Kurdistan with her family to escape what became known as the Anfal Genocide. Her story is difficult and powerful - but essential.

Through her restaurant Nandine in South London, and now through Nandên, meaning “kitchen”, Pary uses the food of her homeland to keep Kurdish culture alive after generations of hardship, loss and displacement.

This year’s Refugee Week theme is Courage - and Pary’s story speaks directly to that. The courage to leave, to rebuild, to remember, and to keep culture alive through food. It also invites us connect through simple acts: listening to someone’s story, trying new food and making space around the table.

Looking for Something Meaningful to Do This Summer?

We had such a lovely time volunteering with Children With Cancer Fund at their Bluebell fundraising day last month (not just because it was beautifully run!). What really stood out was the atmosphere, the generosity, and the shared sense of purpose from everyone involved. It was a clear reminder of the difference collective effort can make.

It means so much to us to be able to work alongside partners like this. Being on the ground together, meeting other volunteers and supporters, and seeing the impact up close is a big part of why we do what we do. We’re looking forward to many more moments like it, and you can be part of them too!

This summer, Children With Cancer Fund is inviting volunteers to get involved in a brilliant mix of community events and fundraising activities across Sussex.

Whether you have a few spare hours or want to spend a full day out in the community, there are lots of ways to help. No experience is needed, just a friendly attitude and a willingness to get stuck in.

Slow down, step outside, and let the words come to you 🌿✍️

PLOT 22 is hosting a nature writing workshop with Dr Craig Jordan-Baker, Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Brighton. The session blends gentle writing exercises with a walk around the plot, using landscape, senses, and short literary prompts to spark new ideas. There’s time to write for yourself, and the option to share if you’d like.

This workshop is exclusively open to Plot 22 members, with free and easy sign up if you’re not already one!

This workshop aims to inspire you to pay closer attention to landscape, nature and to your senses!

Free plans this week? Here’s one we think is worth your time

Little Green Pig's Amplified is bringing spoken word, music and powerful storytelling to the stage, led by young creatives aged 13–18 sharing their own original work for the very first time!

Created with AudioActive, this is all about hearing fresh voices, real stories, and cheering on young people as they take the mic at The Birley Centre.

It’s free to attend and sounds like it’s going to be a brilliant evening.

Get all the info here:
