Our volunteer crew were paged in the early hours of Monday morning following reports of a person in the water near Brighton Aquarium.

The lifeboat launch was cancelled after police safely recovered the person before our crew needed to launch.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the pager and to Sussex Police for their swift response.

If you see someone in difficulty at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Two call-outs in one evening for Brighton RNLI volunteers πŸ›Ÿ

Our volunteer crew responded to two incidents off Brighton on Sunday evening.

At 6.32pm, the crew were alerted following reports of a kayaker in difficulty near the end of Brighton Palace Pier after losing their paddle.

The kayaker was able to make their own way to the pier steps and reach a position of safety, with HM Coastguard standing the crew down before the lifeboat launched.

Later that evening, at 8.58pm, the crew were tasked following multiple 999 calls reporting a vessel close to shore near Rockwater.

Once on scene, the crew assessed the vessel and, after speaking with the person onboard, assistance was requested. A tow was assessed as the safest option and the vessel was towed back to Brighton Marina.

At the same time, emergency services were responding to a separate incident involving a person receiving CPR on the beach nearby.

A busy Sunday evening for our volunteers, who are ready to respond 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

If you see someone in difficulty at the coast, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.

And if you're heading out kayaking, remember to wear a buoyancy aid, check the weather and tides, and carry a means of calling for help that you can reach in an emergency.

Thank you to everyone who called 999 and raised the alarm. πŸ’™

🚨 Two incidents in just over an hour for our Brighton RNLI volunteers on Tuesday evening.

At 7.58pm on August 4, our lifeboat was diverted from an exercise following reports of a person in the water near Sea Lanes. A swimmer helped the person safely ashore, where police and ambulance crews were in attendance.

Then, at 9.11pm, the crew were paged again after reports of a man struggling to return to shore near the Reading Rooms/Black Rock. An informant at the scene confirmed he had made it safely ashore before the lifeboat needed to launch.

A busy evening for our volunteers, who are ready to respond whenever the pager sounds. πŸ’™

Our lifeboat launched just after 11pm on Monday following reports of a person entering the water between Palace Pier and the i360 before disappearing from view.

The crew carried out shoreline searches alongside HM Coastguard. The casualty was later located further up the beach by Coastguard Rescue Team officers, with the lifeboat remaining on scene to provide lighting while casualty care was given.

The lifeboat was stood down a short time later.

If you ever see someone in difficulty at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Our volunteer crew launched at 6.35am this morning after reports of a person in the water around 50 metres off Brunswick Square.

The casualty was recovered from the water and brought ashore, where they were transferred into the care of the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Sussex Police.

The crew were stood down shortly afterwards.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident.

If you ever see someone in difficulty at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. πŸ’™
