Our Story

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO: Citizens Online is a charity working to tackle digital exclusion – difficulties with using online public services and accessing the social and economic benefits of the internet. Digital Brighton & Hove is our partnership project involving Brighton & Hove City Council; BT and a network of public, private and community sector organisations including Job Centre Plus. Good digital skills are crucial to social and financial inclusion, employability and other life-enhancing opportunities, and the project will supplement existing providers of community internet access and digital skills training through analysis of existing resources; signposting; enhancing provision and plugging gaps. We have two staff members who are Community Digital Champions who run educational courses and offer digital support within the community as well as train and recruit new Digital Champions. How to be a Digital Champion: Anyone can join! Digital Champions can help change lives whether it be helping someone tackle social isolation by connecting with family and friends, filling out online forms, accessing heath and wellbeing services or learning a new hobby YOU can be the person to help them learn how to connect to everything the digital world has to offer. If you work for an organisation you can embedd being a DC into your role or you can join our team of Digital Champions voluntarily. You will need to register on our platform and complete some of our online short courses. Our platform has a wealth of information and learning resources and a community forum to support you every step of the way. If you are up for it please get in touch! [email protected]
