Sussex Nightstop

Sussex Nightstop A community response to youth homelessness; hosting young people in the homes of volunteers while our service partners find suitable accommodation.

Sussex Nightstop coordinates a network of volunteers who provide safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental places to stay for young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

For those sofa-surfing, rough sleeping, leaving an unsafe home, or facing homelessness, Sussex Nightstop is there to provide a safety net. Volunteer hosts open their homes for safe overnight stays, while we p

rovides guidance and support to help young people secure stable, long-term accommodation.

Sussex Nightstop welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, faiths, and identities, tailoring its support to meet each person’s needs wherever possible.

While young people have a safe place to rest, our support coordinator connects them with local services, including housing advisors, to help them find suitable accommodation. An on-call service is also available to assist both guests and hosts.

For many young people, including refugees, courage is shown every day - navigating uncertainty, starting over, and asking for support.

Through Nightstop, we stand in solidarity, coming together to offer a safe place, a warm welcome, and the reassurance that no one has to face it alone. 💛

We believe young people have an important voice in shaping their communities and their experiences should help guide the services that support them.

At Sussex Nightstop, we’re committed to listening to young people and using their feedback to shape and improve what we do.

Today, on Power of Youth Day, we’re proud to sign the Power of Youth Charter - a commitment to putting youth voice at the heart of our work.

This is our Common Ground - creating safe spaces, listening, and working together to build brighter futures.

We’re proud to be standing on Common Ground by signing the Power of Youth Charter, reinforcing our commitment to working with young people and putting their voices at the heart of what we do.

As we build towards Power of Youth Day on 2 June, we’re joining organisations and young people across the country who believe in shared purpose, young people and collective action.

We’re giving you a little more time to support something special 💙

Our Charity Art Sale has been extended until 9 June - so there’s still a chance to discover incredible artwork while helping young people facing homelessness.

Every piece makes a difference.

Want to help make hope louder than hate?

Sign the UK’S biggest ever thank you card to the people that make hope happen.

We know it can be hard to be hopeful. That hate seems loud these days. But even in tough times, the hopefuls keep doing their bit to make lives and the places we live better.

We’re part of . We’re here to say thank you - to the people who make time to pour tea, answer phones, raise funds and make lunches. Who get people talking - across divides and in tricky times. The people who get stuck in. Who don’t give up. Often against the odds and without credit.

Join us by signing the card and help celebrate that there is more that connects us than divides us: Go to the link: https://millionactsofhope.org

As Sussex Nightstop, we see hopeful people every day.

The ones who give their time, their energy, their care - our volunteers, partners and businesses that support us and most of all the young people we work with,

That's exactly who was made for.

It's a campaign running 13–20 May that's asking people across the UK to sign the world's biggest thank you card - celebrating everyone who makes hope louder than hate.

We're proud to be part of it.

What is A Million Acts of Hope?

It’s a UK-wide movement (13–20 May) celebrating the everyday actions that help people feel safe, supported and full of hope in our communities, workplaces and beyond.

At Nightstop, we see these acts of hope every day. Our incredible volunteer hosts open their homes to young people facing homelessness, offering not just a safe place to stay, but kindness, stability and the chance to believe in a brighter future.

How can you get involved?
Take part by making your own act of hope - big or small. It could be supporting a friend, checking in on a neighbour, or doing something kind in your community.
Already doing something positive? Share it 💫

Tag us and so we can help spread the word.

Because when people show up for each other, hope grows.
