Doctors spend their working lives caring for others โ but their own wellbeing often gets pushed aside.
In a new blog post, Dr Oliver Dale, Chief Medical Officer at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, reflects on the pressures doctors face today, and why their wellbeing matters for everyone who relies on healthcare.
The figures are stark: 69% of doctors report extreme tiredness affecting their ability to treat patients, 65% report moral distress, and around 40% say work-related stress has made them unwell.
Dr Dale makes the case for moving beyond "resilience" as something doctors are expected to find individually, and towards healthier cultures across teams and organisations โ with mindfulness as part of that shift.
