Can we heal healthcare by paying better attention to the wellbeing of our most precious asset: doctors and medical professionals?

Come to this unique one‑day conference that brings together doctors to explore wellbeing, leadership, and evidence‑based mindfulness in healthcare. The conference takes place in Brighton on 6 November 2026.

We're excited that our keynote speaker is Professor Gwen Adshead (BBC Reith Lecturer and frequent contributor to BBC programmes). She will share reflections from over 30 years of clinical practice, including her experience of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. We also have a great line up of national and international leaders in medical wellbeing, mindfulness, and system‑level change.

The event will explore how evidence‑based mindfulness and compassion can support doctors working under increasing pressure in healthcare systems.

Hosted by the Sussex Mindfulness & Compassion, the programme brings together doctors, medical leaders, and educators to reflect on individual and systemic approaches to wellbeing.

Today is World Mental Health Day.

It’s a day to pause and acknowledge how we’re all doing, and to remember that looking after our mental health is something we return to again and again, rather than something we get right once.

On difficult days, it can help to ask: what helps me reconnect? Sometimes it’s the feel of our feet on the floor, a hand placed on the heart, or a kind phrase such as “it’s OK”.

Our teacher Bridgette O’Neill explores this question in a recent reflection, and invites us to consider what resources each of us. She will also be co-leading a weekend retreat with Ruth Sequeira on resourcing ourselves in uncertain times, for anyone who would like to explore this further.

Read Bridgette’s reflection: https://sussexmindfulnesscentre.nhs.uk/2026/09/15/how-do-i-stay-connected-through-difficult-times-big-and-small/

What helps you to reconnect with kind awareness? 💙
