This World Mental Health Day, we are sharing a few words from people who have taken part in our community cookery classes. They remind us how much a shared meal, a new skill, or a friendly face can mean.

A big thank you to Clementine & Co for fundraising over £900 for us last month through their cocktails of the week! £1 from every delicious happy hour cocktail goes a long way.

This money is going straight to our Schools Project, helping us to continue running cookery classes for local school children. Many schools no longer have cookery facilities, making our cookery lessons a vital opportunity to provide young people with life skills, confidence, and a space to thrive outside the classroom 👨‍🍳

New Chef on the Block 🧑‍🍳 We can't wait to welcome Michelin-star trained chef and MasterChef UK the professionals semi-finalist, Sell Bracamonte to the Community Kitchen with two exciting new classes!

Sel is originally from Guatemala and his cooking is inspired by his travels, heritage, and love of bold flavours. He is currently the head chef of amaribrighton. Previous to this, he worked at the world famous The Fat Duck as a Chef de Partie.

🇬🇹 Guatemalan Masterclass: discover the vibrant flavours, unique ingredients, and rich culinary traditions of Guatemala and Latin America.

🧑‍🍳 Chef Skills Masterclass - Beyond the Recipe: ever wondered what makes restaurant food taste better? The difference is not the recipe, it's the technique. Join Sel as he reveals the professional skills chefs use to create exceptional dishes.

Join us for a unique evening of exceptional seafood and inspiring stories - celebrating Brighton's food scene, community spirit, and Dyslexic Awareness Week.

All whilst raising funds for the Community Kitchen Charity's A Recipe for Life programme!

Enjoy a relaxed and entertaining evening with a seafood buffet hosted by, in their words, "two of Brighton's boldest, baldest, and most charismatic chefs": Pat Timpson of Riddle and Finns Brighton BN1🦞 and Nick Jaye, The Nick Jaye, author and dyslexic advocate.

These sessions are part of the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) for families who receive benefits-related free school meals, and the Short Breaks Programme for children and young people with SEND. Funded by Brighton & Hove City Council.

To celebrate International Youth Day, we are hosting a special community class celebrating the benefits of batch cooking 🍴

This class will help you to to reduce meal costs, learn to cook wholesome healthy meals, spend just a few hours cooking for the whole week, minimise food waste and cut down the amount of packaging and plastic waste produced.

This class is designed for 16-25 year olds. Support and Key workers are welcome to attend but must purchase a ticket as well. The £5 suggested donation will cover ingredient costs.

This is run on behalf of the Community Kitchen Charity - thanks to our funders, the Enjoolata Foundation ✨

In last weeks Love Food Hate Waste themed class, we made decorated puff pastry tarts utilising surplus veggies. The children loved coming up with their own designs 🧑‍🍳

Top tip! Make eating veggies fun by using cookie cutters to create fun shapes, and don't forget to roast up all the extra cuttings for a nice side dish 🥕🥒
