SouthGovNet is examining how reforms proposed by emerging powers that challenge the dominant practices, norms and values of the global economic order and the politico-economic predominance of the West are rooted in specific state-society configurations. In particular, we are interested in the implications such proposals and the increasing weight of these countries globally have in terms of their c

ontributions to global democracy and social justice. The network thereby seeks to move beyond the dominant conventional state centric approach, to provide original timely research into how new proposals for reform in global governance and economic order are situated within both domestic and transnational actors and networks.
