Collaboration across clean energy, conservation, and community development 💡🌿🤝
Over the past few months, our team in Nepal have been working closely with key government stakeholders, including the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) and the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC), to strengthen collaboration across clean energy, conservation, and community development.
📍 Discussions centred on our new clean energy guidelines for protected areas and buffer zones, alongside the evolving 4P (Park–People–Palika–Partnership) approach. Together, these initiatives promote sustainable, wildlife-sensitive renewable energy solutions that benefit communities and nature.
The meetings underscored the importance of government ownership, policy alignment, long-term sustainability, and strong partnerships among conservation authorities, local governments, buffer zone institutions, and communities. Feedback from AEPC and DNPWC will help ensure the guidelines are practical, relevant, and grounded in Nepal’s conservation and development priorities.
🌐 As an organisation working at the intersection of renewable energy, livelihoods, and conservation, we are in a unique position – helping to bring together diverse stakeholders and foster collaboration that supports resilient communities and healthy ecosystems across Nepal’s protected landscapes.
