Today is World Polio Day. Since 1988, Rotary clubs all over the world, including the Rotary Club of Brighton, have been raising money, tripled by the Gates Foundation to fund the elimination of this dreadful disease.

Until recently, wild polio was endemic in just two countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan, but conflicts in Gaza and Sudan have disrupted immunization and cases have been reported there recently. We need to redouble our efforts and finish the job, so that polio follows smallpox into oblivion.

You can help Rotary to do this by donating whatever you can afford by text. Go to the Rotary Club of Brighton's website at www.rotarybrighton.com to find out how.

Many thanks to everybody who visited our stall at Patcham Duck Fayre! We had a lot of laughs with the Hook a Duck and Silly Duck Photo activities!

Three out of 52 entries achieved the maximum score of 9 correct answers and a lucky winner of a £20 shopping voucher was selected by drawing one of their names from a bucket.

Come and visit our stall at Patcham Duck Fayre on Sunday 24th August. We'll have fun activities for kids and the young at heart: hook a duck; silly duck photo; name the ducks. There will be prizes!
