Well folks, we are gearing up for our next committee meeting.
In the meantime we wanted to remind everyone why we do this ride.
We want to promote alternatives to using fossil fuels, especially for transport. Gradually things are changing with the adoption of more electric vehicles which is great for air pollution and the environment. However we should not overlook the fact that an electric vehicle can still run a cyclist off the road. This is the second reason why we protest. We must make cyclists safer, both with education of drivers and also road design.
Recently Brighton and Hove City Council has had the foresight to design in cycle paths through the centre of Brighton. It's just the beginning and some more are planned. It's a shame that there are still some more vocal motorists who believe they are more important and continue to undermine all attempts to make cycling both safer and easier.
By our actions, we highlight these issues and the WNBR is a serious organisation that tries to bring these things to the public's attention by riding through city centres naked. We do it because we care and we do it because cyclists matter even more today with many turning to cycling for fitness and cost of living reasons.
So if you believe you want to make your voice heard, please join us on Saturday 12th September to ride through the city. You can be as bare as you dare but honestly we are really in need of numbers this year above all as it will be our 20th Ride and we wanted it to be significant, especially after the postponement of the June ride due to right wing marches through the city.
In particular we need more female riders as many have been maybe once but been put off by intrusive photography, especially a few years ago. Let's reset that and come along. You can wear bright colours, get painted or be as bare as you dare, but please come to what is an incredible experience and you will be helping us get the important messages across as numbers really do count here.
Please share this across all platforms and to all your friends and acquaintances. We need to spread the word about how important the ride is to change perceptions of cyclists. We need to show everyone how incredible all bodies are in whatever shape or size and the sheer variety and beauty of the human form.
