BrightStore - a community food project run by and for local people and supported by the Brighton and Hove Food Partnership. It's a very reasonably priced membership scheme which entitles you to access a small shop each week. We operate on a very local basis, currently only in the Hollingdean area, the Conway Court/Cornerstone area of Hove, Mile Oak, and Whitehawk, at the Children's Centre. We are

a solidarity scheme, which means that people can pay more if possible, to support those less able to pay, our ExtraBright price reflects that ethos. We offer high quality, local sourced, affordable food including bread, organic eggs, fruit and vegetables along with other essential items. We are able to support you with ongoing food access issues, and happy to discuss these with you, and help where we are able, we offer funded places, and delivery where there is a need. In return for a very affordable weekly shop, members who sign up to be part of the project are encouraged to get involved in helping to run it. Roles include managing deliveries, working with suppliers and setting up the weekly store.

We've just heard from Fareshare that their chilling systems were not working properly in the heat to keep food safe.
Please share this message.
We are so sorry, not a good way to start our chilled food service.

Due to the ongoing unprecedented high temperatures, and the vulnerability of some of our members, we have made the very difficult decision to close our Thursday Whitehawk BrightStore.

We do not take these decisions lightly, but we have a responsibility to look after our staff, volunteers and everyone who shops with us.

Please stay safe from the heat, and we will be back next week.
