A good tidy up at the library this morning in this gorgeous sunshine. All the trees we planted looking really healthy and lots of buddleia which will be great for the butterflies in the summer months 🌸🦋🌳

Today we planted an orchard! 🌳🍎

Copse Hill/Highbank Community Orchard, a mix of apple and plum trees, a welcome addition to the Wilder Verge Project already at the site.

Thank you to Brighton Permaculture Trust for overseeing the planting and the previous Green Councillors ( Jamie Lloyd and Steve Davis) for securing the funds during the last administration in order for TWEACK to undertake this project.

Great to have such a big turn out - well done everybody! 💚

📢 The 1 March marks the official start of the bird nesting season and a time to step back from trimming hedgerows. 🌳

For agricultural hedges, the cutting of hedges is now prohibited until 31 August with a handful of exceptions mainly for safety reasons.

If you have a hedge in your garden, then pausing trimming during this period will help provide safe nesting places too. 🐦

Due to the very high winds forecast for the weekend, we will be unable to safely gather the foliage needed for the wreaths, so it is with a heavy heart that we are cancelling the event on Sunday. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and we will see you in 2025.
