On 10th June, a small group from Brighton & Hove 5k Your Way, went 'on tour' to Peacehaven parkrun, where we were warmly welcomed by Terry Parris, the volunteer team and the other runners there. Thank you for inviting us, Terry. We hope to see you again soon.

It's that time again! 5k Your Way will be there at Hove Park this Saturday for parkrun. Why not come along and join us if you, or someone you know, has been touched by cancer; you can run the 5k parkrun if you like...or walk it...or support others...or any combination of the above! If you'd like to, you can join us afterwards for a coffee and a chat - we are a friendly and supportive group and have been on the journey too.

Hope to see you at Hove Park on Saturday!

Joining us at Peacehaven parkrun on the 10th is Dave Evans and his fantastic group 5k your way move against cancer. Below is the outline of what they are all about.

5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer is for anyone who has been touched by cancer: those who have (or have had) cancer, their families and friends, health care professionals who work with cancer patients, for example.
The idea is to use parkrun as a way to be together at a supportive outdoors and take part in a 5k run on our own terms. That means you can run it, walk it, run/walk it, volunteer as part of the parkrun team or just go long and encourage others. It is totally free and there is no commitment to come every time we meet.
There are parkrun events all over the UK but only a small number of them have a 5k Your Way group, at the moment. I am the Ambassador for the only group in this area, which is the Brighton & Hove parkrun (at Hove Park). Like all 5k Your Way groups, we meet on the last Saturday of each month; you can run on your own or join up with others, whatever works for you. Afterwards we have a coffee and a chat…and that’s it!

New Online Workshop - Sign up Now!

💪We are teaming up with Sarah from Get Me Back to host an online Strength Training Workshop!

👟 The workshop is taking place via Zoom on Thursday 15th June at 6:30pm.

💙 A message from Sarah:

Strength training can have huge benefits to those recovering from cancer to help rebuild muscle, improve bone density and joint strength. It is helpful alongside cardiovascular exercise to improve treatment side effects, cancer-related fatigue and mental and physical health. But strength training is often an area of exercise those recovering from cancer can find hard to get started with.

This session aims to demonstrate the principles movements of strength training, how they support every day movement, and how to progress your training.

This session is open to anyone who is approved to exercise by their oncology team, who wants to understand the best way to approach strength/ resistance training after cancer.

❗Please note you will be required to complete a disclaimer form before taking part in the session.
