🌳Thank you to our superstar volunteers for their great work on Saturday! What a great turn out! We were joined by Rowena, James, Euan, Miri, Miriam, David and Councillor Andy, who joined us as part of Adur volunteer week. The team were led by our Conservation Leader Herbie for a morning of local tree-care.

🌳Our volunteers weeded around all of the young trees at our pocket woodland in Southwick Rec, whilst some were mulched and pruned to give them the best chance of survival as we head towards the colder months. Our volunteers then removed the outgrown tree guards and made a site map of the trees we have planted, learning about tree identification skills along the way.

🌳Great work - huge thanks to our wonderful volunteers! 💚 And thank you to Rowena for sharing these wonderful wildlife photos too!

🌳 This is it, last chance to donate to support local trees! 💚

Here's a message from Heidi, our champion fundraiser, aged 11, who completed a standing on one leg challenge to raise funds for Tree Action...

"The campaign closes tonight!

We've raised over £680 so far and I'd love to get as close to £2,000 as possible before it ends.

Thank you to everyone who's supported me, sponsored me, or just cheered me on while I wobbled around on one leg. It's meant a lot.

Heidi"

💚An update from our young fundraiser Heidi:

🌳 "Thank you to everyone who's sponsored me so far for my Tree Pose Challenge.

Last Sunday, after weeks of practice, I held 'Tree Pose' (standing on one leg) for over 23 minutes straight as a fundraising challenge to support the trees in my local park, planted and cared for by TreeAction.

I wanted to share a few things I've learned about why trees need our help:

🍃A single mature tree can absorb around 22kg of CO2 a year.
🍃Trees provide homes for birds, insects and small animals.
🍃Newly planted trees need care for the first few years, watering, protecting from pests, and space to grow, before they can look after themselves.

🌱That's what the money raised goes towards, not just planting trees but helping them survive and grow.

If you haven't supported my appeal yet, there's still time.

Thank you"
