Huge thanks to Claire, Gabby and Ash from
Ash Care Landscape for their brilliant work this week caring for our trees at Cromleigh Road Recreation Ground, Southwick. 💚🌳

In the midst of the summer heat, they gave our trees a much‑needed drink and a careful check‑over, helping them stay strong and healthy through the hot, dry spell.

Their time, care and dedication make a real difference to our local trees – and to the whole community that enjoys them. Thank you all! 🙌

Spent a lovely morning watering the TreeAction plum, apple, pear, birch & hazel trees at Oak Grove College and getting a tour of their beautiful outdoor learning space with leader Peter Holt. 🌳

It’s a wonderful place where young people with Special Educational Needs can explore nature, get involved in planting and enjoy their sensory herb garden. Time in nature gives young people a healthy outlet to burn off energy while helping to calm and regulate their mood.

Hearing the team’s plans for this inclusive outdoor space was genuinely inspiring – a calm, welcoming environment that truly puts nature at the heart of learning.

Hats off to Peter and the whole Oak Grove team for creating something so special. 🙌

🌳Will you speak for the trees?

We're so delighted to share a brilliant campaign by Heidi, a young person on a mission who’s doing great things with her active love for trees.

She's organised a sponsored 'stand on one leg' to raise money to help Tree Action plant new orchards and pocket woodlands.

She’s bringing together a group of young people to do tree pose and stand on one leg amongst the trees — and has been practising!

Bringing people together to care for trees and actively help new woodlands and orchards grow.

How powerful is that?

She’s also been busy watering the trees and caring for them. Her love and care for the trees is a massive inspiration, in fact.

She's written a beautiful poem that you’ll find on her Crowdfunder page:

All it takes is a young person with a great idea and a community willing to come together to shape our environment and reclaim green spaces in our world.

It’s been a week since our very first Family Forest Day! 🌳

We welcomed nearly 40 guests to our rewilding site in Shoreham, where everyone enjoyed a brilliant day of exploring nature and taking part in creative nature arts and crafts. The activities were led by our Forest School leader, supported by the TreeAction team, and it was wonderful to see families connecting with the outdoors together. 🍂🎨

Spending time in nature can support wellbeing in young people by giving them space to slow down, feel connected and engage their senses. It can also nurture curiosity and creativity, encouraging children to ask questions, explore their surroundings and discover new ways to express themselves.

Inspiring the next generation to become environmental stewards is at the heart of TreeAction’s mission. 💚

A huge thank you to Dan from Coca-Cola who spent his volunteer day with us at TreeAction today! 🌳

We spent the morning at our rewilding site in Shoreham, giving the trees a much-needed drink before litter-picking in the woodland area. Together, we’re improving this much-loved community space for both local wildlife and children to enjoy. 💚

It was brilliant to hear about Dan’s love of nature and the sustainability projects he’s supporting in London.

Have a volunteer day to use this year? Spend it with TreeAction and make a real difference! We have four rewilding sites and an orchard across Sussex, with plenty of opportunities to get involved.

🌳💧 Tree Watering Event – Sunday 16 August 💧🌳

Join us this Sunday morning at Cromleigh Road Recreation Ground to help care for the young trees planted last year. With the current heatwave, a good drink can make a huge difference to helping them establish and thrive.

Our friendly conservation leaders, Gabby and Claire, will be there to welcome you for a relaxed, hands-on tree care session. No experience needed — just come along, lend a hand and help look after your local green space.

🌳💧 Huge thanks to Claire, Matt and Alessandro from Costain Group for their brilliant volunteering with TreeAction today!

In the middle of a heatwave, they helped give our newly planted apple orchard a much-needed drink – 25–30 litres per tree is no mean feat, but it makes a huge difference to helping these young trees get established.

Special thanks as well to Ed from Lancing Manor Leisure Centre for supporting our tree care event today. Community effort like this is what keeps our orchard thriving through the summer heat. 🍎☀️

🌳We don’t just plant trees – we care for them. 🌳 A huge well done to Herbie for leading a Tree Care event yesterday at Middle Road, Shoreham, and to our amazing Tree Care Crew – Conservation Leaders and Tree Care Volunteers – for stepping up in this heatwave.

🌳Young trees are really feeling the stress right now, and it’s only because of your watering, mulching and careful checks that our TreeAction trees are not just surviving, but thriving. We’re already seeing struggling trees bounce back from heat stress thanks to your efforts.

🌳 Conservation volunteers welcome tonight! 🌿

Join our Conservation Leader, Herbie, at Middle Road Rec, BN43 6NQ, at 7pm tonight for a hands-on tree care session at our rewilding site. (Monday 10th August)

We’ll be weeding, watering and mulching the young trees to help them thrive and support the future of this community greenspace. There’s something truly magical about working outdoors at golden hour, surrounded by nature, while making a positive impact locally. ✨

Everyone is welcome, families, individuals, groups. No experience necessary and tools and training provided. Come along, get involved and help our young woodland grow!

🌳💚 Huge thanks to our superstars Lucas and Alison from Aviva! 💚🌳

This morning they joined Tree Action at our rewilding site in Shoreham to care for our young trees. We had a lovely morning watering the trees, weeding to remove competition, and adding plenty of mulch to help retain moisture around the roots. 🌱💧

Afterwards, we took a short walk through the woodlands beside the site to listen to the birdsong and cool down in the shade. 🐦🌿

Thank you, Lucas and Alison, for your energy, care and commitment to nature. You’re true tree heroes! 🙌
