See you there
IDAHOBIT 2026 - Brighton & Hove
On Sunday 17 May at 1.30pm, local LGBTQ+ communities, allies and supporters will come together outside Brighton Unitarian Church on New Road to mark IDAHOBIT - the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.
This year’s global theme is “At the heart of democracy”, a reminder that LGBTQ+ equality, safety and dignity are not separate from democracy. They are part of what democracy must protect.
The afternoon will bring together community speakers, live music and performance, with contributions from Rainbow Chorus, Brighton Gay Men's Chorus, and Drum and Blaze, who will also lead a “Minute of Noise”. Bring something you can use to make noise, raise your voice and be heard together.
After the gathering, the event will continue at The Ledward Centre from 2.30pm to 5pm, with entrance via the side of Jubilee Library. There will be a safe, supportive space to connect and share food, with a lunch buffet provided by Lunch Positive.
Everyone is welcome: LGBTQ+ people, allies and anyone who wants to stand against homophobia, transphobia and biphobia.
