In these difficult times of self isolation and social distancing our aim is to create a community project that brings people together through making!

🤩🎉🎉🎉Congratulations and thanks for all which have visited so far! The best way we can thank the Museum is to show our support and so we are asking for volunteers to be available when the Museum is open. It helps when visitors ask if someone who took part in the project is on hand!! If you can spare an hour or two over a weekend it would be hugely appreciated!! 🙏💜

We are still looking for volunteers....can you help???

Now we have a final plea...we need some volunteers to go along to the museum to welcome visitors to the exhibition. Ideally, if we can cover every weekend:
Saturdays 10am til 1pm or 1pm to 4pm and Sundays 2-5pm.

The museum is run by volunteers so if you can spare a few hours to support the exhibition of the Community Quilt please contact Vikki on [Email address hidden]

👏 Community quilt makers...Congratulations! The responses to the quilt on display have been wonderful. If you were not able to attend the preview, the Museum is open at weekends until 19th Dec so you have time to go and see it!

Nearly time for the preview of Stitching Our Community Together, the exhibition at Brightlingsea Museum! We think the quilt should be shown off as much as possible, so if you would like a poster to display at a window it would help to promote the exhibition to more people! Please message Vikki with your email address and she will send the poster for you to print off. Please note the Brightlingsea Community Quilt will now be displayed in Brightlingsea Museum from 23 Oct - 19 Dec. Special opening for patch makers will be on 23 Oct from 10:15 🪡 🧵

💭 We received a heart warming message this morning and wanted to share:

“What a fantastic way to show something that will become history one day. Thank you so much for organising it so I could take part. I felt honoured to be able to do a patch for the quilt. Hope you all have a lovely day on the 23rd Oct. I will be thinking of you and imagining all the comments from the non sewers in Brightlingsea when they see it Good luck and thank you again.”

If you are up for your photo being in the exhibition, we want the photo to be of you, holding up a page that describes your ideas around your patch and what you got from creating it. It could start something like.... "what I loved about taking part was...."

Send it in via messenger on our page!
