This weekend, the focus for Keep Britain Tidy's is on our beautiful Memorial Park in Bailiff Bridge.

Any support from our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts would be hugely welcome - we've got a proud record of helping clean up our community with the amazing team at Friends of Wellholme Park, and there's always more to do 💚

The Great British Spring Clean 2026 officially begins tomorrow!!

Here's our events lined up for tomorrow and over the weekend, as we commence our 'PARKS TOUR':

💚 FRIDAY 13th March
LANE HEAD RECREATIONAL GROUND
Meet at 9am by the playground

💚 SATURDAY 14th March
CARR GREEN RECREATIONAL GROUND
Meet at 10am by the playground

💚 SUNDAY 15th March
BRAMSTON STREET PARK
Meet at 10am by the playground

* Please wear suitable clothing & footware

From a chinchilla to a parrot, a bearded dragon to a (very big) snake, our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts last night got the chance to learn about some incredible animals thanks to Vicky & Josh from Walk on the Wild Side - animal encounters.

All our young people (and our volunteer leaders!) were very brave and asked some brilliant questions 🐍🦜🐀

Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have collected a huge selection of food for Focus4Hope for those in need in our community.

Beavers were lucky enough to be joined by one of the charity’s volunteers, Helene, who spoke to our young people about why what the charity does is so important.

Thank you to all our children and families for all the donations, which will make a big difference to so many in the run-up to Christmas.

And thank you to Helene and all the Focus4Hope team for everything they do 💜💚

Last night, we welcomed Jasonwhitakerboxingfitness who put our Cubs through their paces teaching them about health and fitness, and learning new skills for life 🥊

A beautiful morning, a poignant silence and a chance to come together to reflect.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Memorial Gardens this morning for the Service of Remembrance.

It was fantastic to see so many people and our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, plus those from other groups and schools across the area, were brilliant ambassadors for our community.

Today we honour every hero who gave everything for the freedoms we have today.

We will gather in Bailiff Bridge Memorial Gardens at 10.30am for the annual Service of Remembrance. We hope to see you there.

This weekend, you will hopefully see a new Union flag flying over Bailiff Bridge's Memorial Park after Bailiff Bridge Scout Group arranged for a replacement to be secured for the community.

Many of our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts had noticed it was looking faded and in need of repair so, working with community leader Malcolm Silkstone and Calderdale Council, we've purchased a new flag, handed it over to Malcolm, and it should now be in place for Remembrance Sunday and proudly flying into the future.

💬 Scout Group Chair Stephen Naylor:

"We are incredibly proud to be part of the community in Bailiff Bridge and organising for the Union flag to be replaced is just one small way we can give something back to the area. There is no more poignant or important occasion than Remembrance Sunday, and the flag, alongside our beautiful Display of Remembrance, is an important demonstration of our tribute to those who gave their tomorrows for our children’s todays.”

If you’re passing Bailiff Bridge Community Centre over the next week, please take a look at the Display of Remembrance from our young people.

Cut outs of our Beavers’ and Cubs’ hands make up our Giant Poppy, while our Cubs have written messages of thanks to those who gave their tomorrows for our todays.

Bailiff Bridge Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are always proud to be part of the Service of Remembrance at Bailiff Bridge Memorial Park.

The event will start in the Gardens on Sunday 9th November at 10.30am and, following the commemorations, our Scouts Group will be serving refreshments in the Community Centre.

We hope to see as many of our community there next weekend to remember and reflect - thank you as ever to Malcolm and all the organisers of this important service ❤️

Thank you to everyone who supported us earlier this year with the Blue Tokens.

We have invested the £500 grant in new tents and camping equipment which were first used on our Cub Camp last weekend but will be used in months and years ahead.

Thank you to those who voted for us, and to everyone at Tesco and Groundwork, for helping us to prepare young people with skills for life by giving them opportunities to have adventures, try new things and make friends.
