ALLOTMENT 🍅
We are delighted to see so much wonderful summer growth coming through in Our Allotment, with plenty of veg and flowers on offer. We meet at St. Cecilia's Gardens opposite St Catherine’s School every Wednesday between 10am and 12 noon - the plots by the river. All welcome, whatever the weather, and no special skills required 🌱
FRIDAY DROP-IN 🌳
Last Friday, Jen-Lou Marks stepped in for her colleague Clare to talk about the Macmillan Cancer Support Advice Unit for those seeking benefit support and in particular help negotiating the complex routes to making claims and sometimes arbitration on claims refused. Sadly, the talk Jen gave was about the recent closure of the Unit due to funding cuts, in spite of heavy demand. The Macmillan Unit was a project by Citizens Advice in conjunction with Macmillan. The Unit has been replaced by a broader CA operation that is not cancer specific. While Macmillan will still have a dedicated help line, those seeking support will be put through now to a CA office that could be anywhere in the South. As this new set up only started on 1st June, there is no supporting literature and Jan was clearly in the dark on the details of how it will work. There was much sympathy from LT members, some lively discussion and questions and telling comments about the issues of funding.
Please join us this Friday, 26th June for 1pm YOGA with Nadiya Wynn, Restorative Being, Yoga and Mindfulness 🧘♀️* followed by 2.15pm Tripudio and then 2.30-4pm ART WITH LIBBY JUKES 🎨 (all materials supplied) or simply come along for tea and chat. Everyone is welcome to Drop-in and activities take place at The Friends' Meeting House, 97 South Street, Bridport.
* contact Nadiya at [email protected]/07800 712998 if you are attending for the first time & bring along a yoga mat and blanket.
