Literary & Scientific Institute - LSi Bridport We are your space to meet, work, learn and grow.

The Bridport Area Development Trust (a group of local volunteers) took on the challenge of restoring this much-loved building at the heart of our town, which had been empty and neglected since 1997. After many painstaking years of legalities and logistics, the LSI is now back, fully restored, for use by the community. Our bookable facilities include:

- Hot desks with access to fast Wi-Fi and kitc

hen facilities, including free tea and coffee
- A training and meeting room with flexible seating and a conference kit and TV, perfectly equipped for training, presentations and meetings
- A beautiful courtyard, perfect for talks, performances, festivals, pop-up events and more
- A podcast and editing suite
- Our fully equipped professional kitchen

Our Story

The Literary and Scientific Institute Bridport opened in February 2018, after standing empty for over twenty years. The original architecture of the building was a statement of great civic pride and was dedicated to the education of working men in the town.

Today, we have reimagined the original aims and, after ten years in development, the doors have once again opened for the people of Bridport. The LSi Bridport is a space for people to think, work, learn and grow.

Inside you will find a modern, comfortable and relaxed work hub, where hot desk users can come and work in a professional and friendly environment. A meeting room and training room are also available for hire, and a welcoming, communal courtyard space offers a variety of uses throughout the day. We have a fantastic cafe (The Alembic Canteen), which serves breakfast from 8.30am, lunches from midday, delicious coffee and great cakes until 3pm. Everybody is welcome.
