Wrist – An original community play curated by young adults. Irreverent, funny, sincere. The story follows Ray – a young man in the first years of his adulthood – as he navigates the monotony of his everyday circumstances.

This play has been commissioned as part of Bridport Council’s Bridport24 Town of Culture initiative and directly supports up-and-coming artists

Last week, we announced that Portland Town Council and Weymouth Town Council will be joint Towns of Culture 2025. Bridport is the current Town of Culture 2024 Bridport Town Council Bridport Arts Centre The Lyric Theatre Tociya

In our latest blog post, the two people instrumental in its creation, our CEO David Lockwood and General Manager Rosanna Sloan, reflect on the intentions behind this new initiative. They talk about what questions were asked as they slowly developed the concept of Town of Culture.

Meet fellow musicians, jam with others, learn new skills and write & record your own song!🎶

Gary from YouDoMusic and B Sharp will take you through the steps of writing, laying down and producing your own music track in the state-of-the art music studio at BYCC. At the end of the 3 day workshop you will have an MP3 of your own track to take away, plus new skills and friends.🙌

Evening sessions are for young people aged 17-25

-Monday 5th August 6 - 9pm
-Tuesday 6th August 6 - 9pm
-Thursday 8th August 6 - 9pm

Total cost for all 3 sessions is £10. Free spaces are available where finances are tight; please contact Clare for details.

The Bridport Pavilion of Regenerative Practices is celebrating the craft culture of the area.🪚🔨

It will be designed and made with Bridport’s creative young people beginning next week!🙌

Created from materials grown locally and facilitated by craftspeople working in the area. A stage, shelter and seating will be created through collaborative design sessions, training throughout the process.

After all this there will be a materials reuse programme that will donate some of the materials of the pavilion to sustainable, regenerative creative initiatives. ♻️

❓Did you know 📍Bridport is piloting Town Of Culture as of next week?!

This means that from the 1st July - 31st December 🗓️there’s going to be many events happening all over Bridport and TOCIYA aren’t the only ones involved.

As the ambassadors we will also be sharing with you any collaborations we are involved in, this means you won’t be missing out and you’ll see many familiar names along the way!!
