What makes a good neighbour? That’s the conversation that Paula White from BBC Radio had with Heather Thompson, Chair of Cheshire NWA. They talked about the importance of trust, respect and consideration, especially in a more fragmented society.

The conversation is available to listen to on BBC Sounds (scroll to 17.50) https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002x00r

Good evening Britannia Road & Side Streets NHW
Just a quick update about the bogus gentleman walking around the estate yesterday evening.

EE have told me they do not do this type of door to door sales pitch and asking about your broadband and they are very sorry for the residents in the estate who have had this person making out he is from. EE.

I do hope this has put you at ease tonight knowing he is fake and bogus.

I wish you all a very good evening

Just sharing this to show neighbourhood watch is not just about catching crime on our streets and reporting it, it's much more than that, it's about getting out and making your area better, Community helping eachother, been there for eachother, supporting eachother etc.

If anyone in the area wants to ever organise a community event, a fundraiser event for this areas neighbourhood watch or has any ideas of fundraising or any community get togethers for the area now the weather is getting nicer, do get in touch with us and we will be more than happy to help you out with stuff so you are not alone.

I do feel we do need to look at ways to raise money for our estate to improve things ###

Volunteer spotlight: St Erth's Neighbourhood Watch group held their very first litter pick in April — and what a debut! They came together to clean up their corner of beautiful Cornwall, and this brilliant group now runs five schemes covering the whole community.

From getting abandoned cars moved to connecting with residents at the monthly farmers' market, they're a shining example of what working together can achieve. 👏

Stay alert: romance fraud cost UK victims £102M last year.
-----------------------------------
Victims of romance fraud lost more than £102 million last year, as criminals continue to exploit online relationships to manipulate people into transferring money.

Analysis shows people aged 55 to 74 experienced the greatest financial losses, accounting for almost half of the total amount stolen. Although men submitted a higher number of reports overall, women experienced higher individual losses, making up just over 40 per cent of the total value reported.

Romance fraud remains closely linked to online platforms, particularly social media and dating sites, where offenders can create convincing false identities. Investigators are also seeing increased use of AI‑generated images and messages to support these profiles. In many cases, it is also linked to fake investment opportunities, including cryptocurrency, increasing the financial risk to victims.

As part of this campaign, we are urging the public to stay cautious when forming relationships online and to recognise the warning signs:

Be cautious of individuals who develop relationships very quickly or express strong feelings early on

Be wary of excuses not to meet in person or to avoid live video calls

Never send money, cryptocurrency or gift cards to someone you have not met face‑to‑face

Be alert to requests linked to investments, medical emergencies or travel costs

Speak to a trusted friend or family member if something feels unusual or pressured

If you think that you have been targeted, please report it to Report Fraud at www.reportfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040.

If money has already been transferred, you should contact your bank immediately. In Scotland, victims of fraud and cybercrime should report to Police Scotland on 101.

Following the vandalism of the neighbourhood watch sign, I have personally had a look myself, this has deliberately been vandalised as you can see this has been deliberately peeled even if there was water ingress natural weather would not peel a sign the way this had, baffles me why people would do this

Vandalism of neighborhood watch signs in the area!!!
Photo of the sign by My house for attention...

We have noticed one of the neighbourhood watch signs, specifically the one that was attatched to the lamp post by scholars way has been deliberately vandalised.

We were aware that the signs had slid down the lamp posts and that they had water ingress in them, these are scheduled to be replaced in the summer when the weather is a lot warmer.

It is very annoying the lack of respect people have for things, and we did ask as part of a community for the people who are around the area of where the signs are to report to us if the signs become damaged or if there was any issues with them and we will sort this. Instead we have had to discover all issues with signs ourselves.

Further to add to this we are assuming it's vandalism with how the sign has been pulled off and thrown, but if someone in the area has done this due to thinking it needed to come down due to damage we would of appreciated to be contacted and say the sign been given to us rather than taking off and not saying anything.

Moving forward when all the signs do get replaced in the summer we would appreciate abit more coming together as a community taking care of things and not vandalising and letting us know if something is not right with the signs we are only a message away you can either message the Bridlington Britannia Road and Side Streets Neighbourhood Watch page myself Lauren Walker or our coordinator for the area Simon Boulton

Do not hesitate to contact us about anything in our area using any of the pages tagged above or you can email us if you prefer [email protected] where we will reply as soon as possible as well.

We are always open to any help and support, any fundraising ideas for the area to bring the community together and improve our area or if you have anything you feel needs improving in the area please let us know.

But please note things can only happen if we can fundraise, raise money for the area but most importantly that we have the support fromeveryone in the area, without the support from everyone in the area, we don't raise money which means we cannot improve things but also means we cannot do more nice things in the area as myself and Simon cannot keep funding things from our own pocket like when we did the macmillan event back last August x
