Tŷ Cariad Africa is a registered charity in England and Wales (1124100) which exists to raise funds to support the work of VCCP – Ty Cariad, and other similar minded projects helping orphans and vulnerable children. Our aim is to relieve poverty, sickness and distress and to provide access to education amongst orphans and vulnerable children in sub-Saharan Africa. We partner with organisations tha

t promote tracing, re-linking and reunification of children in their families and extended communities wherever possible. We pride ourselves in our strong relationships with our partners. Each of our partners employ local professionals which means that each child referred for support can be assessed locally and their needs met in an appropriate manner, no matter what their background may be. Local people are empowered by us to deliver a quality service which has been recognised at government level. The main project we support is Victory Child Care Project – Ty Cariad (VCCP) which is in Namugongo, near Kampala in Uganda. We also support similar projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. We also support similar projects throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. What we believe…
We believe that all children have a right to be loved and to be safe from harm. They should have nutritious food, clean water and good healthcare. They also have a right to education and a right to play – to be children. Children should, wherever possible, have the right to live with their parents. In the event of separation from parents, we believe that as children benefit from growing up in a loving family environment, this should be provided wherever possible through foster care or adoption. During the process of seeking suitable family care for a child, whether that be through family members, extended family members, foster carers or adoptive parents, the standard of care should be of the highest quality possible, and the children should still have access to the aforementioned – love, safety, nutrition, water, healthcare, education and play. History…
Tŷ Cariad Africa was set up in 2003 and became a UK registered charity in 2008. It was set up to support the work of the VCCP – Ty Cariad children’s home in Namugongo which was established in 2003 following a visit by Paul Thomas (Chaplain to South Wales Fire and Rescue Service) to the Uganda Fire and Rescue headquarters in Kampala. VCCP – Ty Cariad’s children’s home is run by Victory Christian Centre, Uganda.

Barbie (𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥) was admitted to the Children's Home last year when she was just 11 months old.

A health check was conducted and she was diagnosed pneumonia, severe joint pain, anaemia and she was malnourished. She was taken to Mulago hospital where she was admitted and received treatment.

Barbie was not growing at the expected physical developmental stages - she wasn’t as physically active and wasn't walking. Mulago Hospital advised that she start physiotherapy at the hospital.

Barbie has been receiving physiotherapy for 9 months now, and we wanted to share the exciting news, that she took her first steps last week.

Thank you for being a part of her journey.
