🌳 In partnership with Kenfig Corporation Trust, Bryngarw Country Park, Bridgend Local Nature Partnership and local volunteers, the The Orchard Project will be restoring heritage fruit orchards at several sites in Bridgend.

🍏This project will include maintenance and pruning of existing trees, supplementary planting and eDNA analysis of unknown fruit varieties at existing orchards. These orchards will support biodiversity by providing habitat and food sources for pollinators while offering opportunities for community harvesting, training and volunteering.

🍎 The dates below indicate when the sessions are planned to take place (weather permitting). Each session will involve some theory followed by practical work. If anybody would like to attend they should contact Witchhazel from the Orchard Project at the following address: [email protected]

🦉The Three Valleys Nature Network covers the north of the county, from Bryngarw country park to the top of the Garw valley, and from the west of Maesteg to Gilfach Goch. We are a partnership comprised of community groups, non-governmental organisations and residents with an interest in conserving and enhancing the rich biodiversity of the area

🌳This nature network is home to an array of habitats including broadleaved woodland, grasslands, heathland, wetland and open-mosaic coal spoil habitats. The Three Valleys partnership is in the process of developing a set of priorities and project ideas that reflect the significance of this network’s nature and cultural heritage

🍄‍🟫 Our ambition is to create a network of people and knowledge to enable us to apply for future nature-oriented funding.

📍We will be meeting at Y Nyth in Bryngarw Country Park from 10:00-12:00 on Tuesday the 2nd of December. If you would like to join the network, please get in touch!

🍄 Thank you to everyone who came down to Newbridge Fields on the 25th of July to celebrate the first Bridgend Nature Festival!

The event was a roaring success, with over 650 attendees joining a wide range of nature-oriented organisations and community groups for a day of fun, activities and education 🦋

The day featured a range of nature walks, treasure hunts and specimen identification drop-in sessions amidst a sun-drenched Newbridge fields 🌱

It was great to see so many new and familiar faces, and spiriting to see such an appetite for nature engagement.

We hope to see you again soon at the next Bridgend Local Nature Partnership event!

Please feel free to share any photos from the event (particularly as I forgot to take any) 📸
