Likely too late in the day now but, our League season has finished and whilst we wait to see if we made the Playoffs Play-In, we're having an Open Session Tonite 🔥 for any local (or not so local) ballers who wanna come down.

Come find us at Becket Keys School (Sawyers Hall Lane, in Brentwood). 8-10pm, £10, card accepted (we have a machine 😳).

For first time in a long time, The Bears are holding open trials for the forthcoming 2025-26 Essex Basketball League season! (starts mid-Sept).

We've been out of action for 2.5mths, due our venue having maintenance work done, where we'll return (Becket Keys) start of Sept. In meantime, we're gonna be based at Drapers Academy in Harold Hill for what seems to be next 7wks, and it's time to introduce fresh blood to the roster. Want in? Email us on our club address, on the promo poster, to secure your spot. There will be x2 Open Trials, so if you miss this Monday, the 2nd is later in July.

For the 4th time this season, we battle for one last time. Swish have taken the dubs to date, but this is the Playoffs... Anything can happen 👀 🐻🐻‍❄️🏀

Following a disappointing D2 League performance @ Baddow Eagles 2 (7-9) a couple weeks ago, losing by 20pts, and then Essex Shield semi-final elimination to (D1) Eagles 1 just last week, this was our chance to bite back & balance the scales as we (8-8) hosted Eagles 2 for the D2 Playoff QF... The team didn’t disappoint!

With us missing two key players, Baddow came out the blocks firing, finishing Q1 with a 13-18 lead. The Bears then found their rhythm in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, behind our ever present ‘Big3’ of Drew, Billy, and the returning Alex, going on a 48-16 surge to take a 40-31 lead into half-time and 61-44 into the 4th. In what was an expected physical but competitive tie, as per usual between the Bears and Eagles, the latter mounted a comeback from the 3pt line in the 4th and brought it down to a single digit game, before collective counter defense and consistent scoring from took us over the line to setup a D2 Playoff semi-final vs seasonal nemesis... Swish Blue! Update(s) to come on when & where over coming days.

After a few tough games with Swish,Blue devils and eagles bears hope to go back to their winning ways and start to close the season the way they started and that clinch that W 🏀🔥

A match up that is always controversial ,being the centre talk of Essex basketball with the fireworks that follow 👀 bears travel to swish blue tomorrow night to attempt to take the win they keep coming so close taking and to secure that number one spot in the league 🔥👀🏀

Most people love a rollercoaster ride, right?... Well, this game definitely felt like one! In what was a must win for Bears, to level the 3gm series with Braintree after a narrow loss in Dec, and set the pace at the top of Division 2, it came down to holding nerve in the final seconds of the game.

After speeding ahead to a 15pt lead in Q1, with Billy scoring 13pts, bad decisions took over and Braintree went on a 10-44 run to go into half time up by 19! The Bears then found their way again in Q3, with Vaidas scoring his own 13pts, as we entered Q4 down 58-63. Some stellar defensive work from Drew and collective counter punching team offense, with one final assist by Joe and the bucket by Drew, saw Bears take the lead on the final basket of the game with 8secs left. Braintree had the chance to win, but missed their final shot and with it handed Bears a hard fought & much needed win - We now top of Division 2!

Next up... We play back-to-back games vs Swish Blue, first away (Feb 27) then home, before hosting Braintree again. The ‘business end of the season’ has arrived! 🐻🏀

Come down tomorrow tonight and watch bears host blue devils a very important game for both 👀with bears currently ahead of devils they are gonna want keep their place and secure the win 🔥 with always a good and tough matchup against devils who will also be out for blood to climb the table 🔥🏀

A very pleasant encounter with young ballerz, giving bears a very good game but just couldn’t hold on and bears just took off with the game 🏀didn’t ballerz given them a game to the very end 🔥 the win keeping bears nice and 2nd in that league table 🏀 🏀🐻

A little league switch up Friday bears will host Redbridge Royals for their first encounter but will be considered as an away game due to the match up. Hoping to keep their place at 2nd in the league and up their winning streak bears are gonna be looking to take the win home or away 🔥 # bearsstandup
