SLINGS THIS WEEK

It's the third Wednesday of the month this week, which means it's time for the lovely Debs from to join. If you'd like to speak to her about sling hire, please book in with her directly so she brings what you need.

We will also be there for breastfeeding support, or even if you just need a chat and want to get out of the house.

Everyone is welcome, it would be lovely to see you ❤️

(Please note you don't need to be breastfeeding to come to the sling library)

Are you a mum with a child/children under 5 years, living in the Brentwood area, who would love to meet other mums and exercise, but you are finding it impossible as you have no one nearby to look after your baby?

Brentwood Home-Start has a wonderful, fully funded group taking place on a Thursday morning at Shenfield Parish Hall between 10am and 11.30am. Home-Start Essex's aim is to give children the best possible start in life by supporting their parents and care givers.

I joined in with their circuits class this morning, run by Jolyne from Yard Fitness. Jolyne expertly ran the class for the mums, while the babies were nearby in the hall being looked after by the amazing Home Start Team. The people I spoke to said that they loved coming to the group and the babies seemed happy too.

I enjoyed watching Russell Howard live recently. I particularly enjoyed his new dad enthusiasm for all things breast and breastfeeding. Hoping to officially reference him in my next health inequality grant application to support our cause for why funding breastfeeding support is so beneficial and our group should receive much needed funds.

P.S. Russell if you’re looking for a good cause to support our room hire bill is due soon…

Baby chimpanzee born after 17 years!

In the early hours of Saturday 17th January 2026, the Animal Care Team were delighted to discover female chimpanzee, Kora, had given birth to a healthy baby.

We know that this is a very exciting time and visitors will be keen to see the baby, but we do kindly ask that all visitors remain quiet when visiting Chimpanzee Lookout to allow our new family time to settle. We will be providing updates on the new arrival via our website and social media channels as we have them.
