Today is World Animal Day, and this year’s theme, “See the World Through Their Eyes,” invites us to consider life from the perspective of the animals we share it with 🌍🐾

For a pig, kindness might look like a deep bed of straw to snuggle into and space to root and explore. For a horse, it might mean gentle care, companionship and time to graze. For an alpaca, it might mean being alongside their herd, with room to roam and the choice to keep a comfortable distance.

Here at Hopefield, understanding those needs is at the heart of caring for our rescued residents 🫶🏻

Behind each of these faces is an individual with their own personality, preferences and story. Some welcome attention. Others need space. Each deserves patience, respect and a safe place to call home.

Seeing the world through their eyes means listening to what their behaviour tells us, respecting their boundaries and giving them opportunities to do the things that come naturally to them.

Your support helps us provide that care every day. Every visit, donation and shared post helps keep their home safe and their futures secure.

GOOD NEWS… WE’RE EXTENDING OUR ETHICAL ANIMAL EXPERIENCES! ☀️🐾

They were originally due to finish for the season this weekend, but with the weather still being kind to us (touch wood!), we’ve decided to keep them running a little longer!

You can now book selected experiences right through until Sunday 18th October 💙

It’s your chance to get closer to some of Hopefield’s rescued residents, learn all about them from our team and enjoy a really special experience – all while supporting the care of the hundreds of animals who call Hopefield home 🐷🐮🐴🐐

We’ll review things again in a couple of weeks and, if the weather continues to cooperate, we may even be able to extend them a little further 👀

❗️ A LITTLE UPDATE ABOUT Brentwood Bubbles 'N' Barks 🐾

Two years ago, we opened Brentwood Bubbles ’N’ Barks with one aim: to offer a fantastic grooming service for local dogs while generating additional income to support the rescued animals here at Hopefield 💙

Since then, we’re so proud of how much it’s grown! Our fabulous groomer Jade has built up a huge and loyal client base, established an amazing reputation 🐶✂️

But we’ve now reached a point where we’ve decided to make a change to the way the grooming room operates. From 1st October, rather than Hopefield employing groomers directly, our grooming tables will be rented to self-employed groomers who run their own independent businesses.

And we’re delighted to share that Jade isn’t going anywhere 🥰 She’s taking the exciting step of launching her own independent business, Hairystylesbrentwood , and will continue grooming right here from our premises, renting one of our grooming table.

For Hopefield, this new setup is actually more financially beneficial and sustainable, allowing the grooming room to generate even more income for the sanctuary – which is exactly why Brentwood Bubbles ’N’ Barks was created in the first place 🐷🐴🐮🐐

So while things are changing slightly behind the scenes, the most important thing remains exactly the same: dogs will continue being pampered here, and the grooming room will continue raising vital funds for Hopefield’s rescued animals.

And there’s room for more! We currently have a second fully equipped grooming table available to rent for an independent dog groomer looking for a space to grow their own business. Interested? Drop us an email at [email protected] to find out more 🐾

Love animals and know how to create content that makes people stop scrolling? We’d love to hear from you!

From rescue stories and behind-the-scenes filming to YouTube videos and livestreams, you’ll help more people discover Hopefield and inspire them to visit, donate and support our rescued animals 💙

You’ll also lead our wider digital marketing and create content for our fencing business, Best Equine & Agricultural Fencing Ltd.

We’re looking for strong storytelling and video-editing skills, proven digital marketing experience and plenty of creative ideas!

There’s been some SERIOUS heavy lifting going on in our Exotic Animal Area… And no, we’re not just talking about the Sulcata tortoises!

The whole area has had a bit of a makeover, with lots of work going on behind the scenes including new pathways, new enclosures and more. And now you can come and see what we’ve been up to!

This weekend is our FINAL Exotic Animal Weekend of 2026 — so it’s your last chance this year to get up close to some of our more unusual residents and explore the revamped area. Come down and meet some new faces, including Ozzy the Sulcata tortoise and Skittles the macaw, and catch up with familiar favourites like Meeko the raccoon and Moxie the fox.

Basically… we’ve done the hard work. Now you just need to come and have a nosey.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Steve, it’s that this little chap has a LOT to say — and he gets very excited when someone stops for a chat. ❤️ He literally quivers with happiness when he gets attention, so those little shakes you might have noticed in our last video are very much a Steve thing! So, just to reassure you, Steve is kept in a lovely warm, tropical environment and is absolutely not cold. He has one of the warmest rooms at the sanctuary ❤️

We’ve also had Steve thoroughly tested for the bird-related illnesses and conditions that could cause feather loss, and he has tested negative for all of them. We believe his feather loss is most likely linked to the stress he experienced in his previous home, where he was kept in a tiny, barren cage that simply wasn’t suitable for him.

His life looks very different now. ❤️

As an animal sanctuary, our residents’ health and safety is always at the heart of what we do. We monitor them closely, provide the environments and care they need, and seek expert veterinary advice and testing whenever necessary.

And Steve? Well, he’s just a little chap who really, really loves a chat. 🥰

Seeing our residents content, relaxed and enjoying the simple things is what sanctuary life is all about. Each of them deserves a life filled with kindness, comfort and plenty of tasty treats — and thanks to our wonderful supporters, that’s exactly what we can give them 🥹

Safe, loved, and never having to worry about what tomorrow might bring. That’s what a forever home means 💙
