🚦 Essex Safer Speeds Strategy – Have Your Say
Essex County Council, in partnership with the Safer Essex Roads Partnership, has developed a draft Safer Speeds Strategy aimed at making roads across Essex safer, greener, and healthier for everyone.
Why it matters
In 2025, 60 people were killed on Essex roads
Nearly half of these deaths involved excess speed
Many residents report feeling unsafe walking or cycling in their communities
This strategy supports the Vision Zero goal: no deaths or serious injuries on Essex roads by 2040.
What the strategy will do
Introduce a flexible, evidence-based approach to speed management
Improve road safety and design
Support safer travel choices for all road users
Have your say
Feedback is now open to anyone who lives, works, or visits Essex. Your input will help shape the final strategy.
🗓 Consultation closes: 26 April 2026
